I was going to say you shred into small bits, remove seeds and stems, and pack or roll...but now that I read the entire question:

Traction control off?

Well, you're hooking up well, then. Other than dumping at higher rpm, I'm not sure what might be the problem other than clutch adjustment...which seems unlikely.

What rpm do you release at?

Sounds like too much clutch and not enough throttle to me. I think you have to get off the clutch quickly and then move your left foot over to lightly brake to keep the car in one place (lock the front wheels). Once it is not rolling you can get off the brake and just stay hard on the throttle.

I'm assuming you own a manual GT.

How to "smoke" your tires:

1. Put the shifter into 1st gear and keep the clutch pushed in. Make sure the TCS lamp marked OFF is lit.

2. Apply throttle until your RPMs are over 3k.

3. Release clutch QUICKLY. Just let it spring right up. This is known as "dumping" or "popping" the clutch. Your tires should start spinning after that, unless you're running drag radials. Continue to apply throttle for as long as desired.

NOTE: You are burning your clutch because you aren't letting it go quickly enough. You can't slip the clutch (slipping the clutch means releasing it slowly) and do a burnout. You need to rev the motor high and release the clutch quickly. I hope yyou haven't torn up your clutch too much already.

What he said...aka "sidestepping" the clutch. Meaning, as if you moved your foot off to one side and let it "pop" up from depressed with no resistance whatsoever. Harsh, for sure.

When you dump that clutch, it is like Doc said in 'Back to the Future,' "You're going to see some serious fecal matter"

And if you're not prepared for what is gonna happen, you'd be wise to be in a safe area where you have some leeway if it gets sideways or going realy fast. Have fun!

don't just take your foot off the clutch, let it out fast all the way with your foot. It's not as bad on the clutch that way.

If you want to do a real good smoky burnout try this:

1) Turn off Traction Control.
2) Have someone pour water in front of your rear tires.
3) Roll into and out of the water puddle.
4) Put your car in 2nd gear.
5) Wind the RPM to about 4000.
6) Let the clutch out FAST.
7) Watch your Rpm and try to keep it between 4-5000.
8) As soon as your tires start spinning place your left foot on the brake and apply pressure until your car doesn't move forward, but no more than it takes to keep it from moving (continue to watch rpm's and keep them at about 4000)
9) When your car is engulfed in smoke you can let off the brake and slowly back out of the throttle. This can be done without the water, but wet tires spin easier!
