How to do burnout in an automatic 05 GT?

How do you do a stationary burnout in an automatic 05 GT?

Is it possible?

Is it safe?

hold the brake down (not all the way, but more than just a little) then floor the gas. Once you get the tires going, you probably don't need much brake. If you start going forward, give a bit more brake. once you are happy, if you want to take off just let off the brake and leave some rubber strips :-)

Possible? yes, quite!

Safe? if you just watch where the rear end goes, yea it's fairly safe. You probably aren't in danger of breaking anything, unless your car slides into something. If you plan on doing this alot, I'd suggest getting a line lock, which will lock just the front brakes so your back brakes don't take all that abuse.

legal? on the streets, no. incase you didn't know (since you don't know how to do it, maybe you don't know this, sorry if I sound like an butt haha!) This is done all the time on drag strips, go clean off the tires and heat them up so they can get more traction. It may or may not be needed on street tires (I don't race, so I'm not quite sure) , but slicks and other sticky tires benefit from it.

+1 As long as you turn off the TCS you'll be able to figure it with a few tries.

Yes it will wear on your brakes although I wouldn't worry about it unless you plan on doing long smokey burn out's daily. Additionally it will wear on your rear tires but that's a no brainer.

Motto: You only live once. Wear it out and buy another one.

I usally just pull up next to a solid wall or the car parked in front of me and floor it.

Doing it against the brakes (TC and OD off) , I got the car sliding sideways 3'. You should be able to do it without brake locking on a slight grade/hill. Just come to dead stop and mash the throttle.

But that's why I got an automatic....I'm less inclinded to do it in the first place (tires ain't cheap) secondly it does little or nothing for forward motion.
