Doing some research and I'm pretty much done with all my bolt on mods. But I actually want just a little more power and to squeeze out a little more muscle car sound out of my mustang. Hooker just released Shorty Headers and they look awesome! And they are C.A.R.B. legal! It's my b-day today and I finally turn 22, I was thinkin of asking my dad for a set of these for my b-day, CERMAIC!, but unsure if anyone had any problems with Hooker, especially the LTs. Anyone pleased with them?

Has anyone installed Hooker LTs and a catted X/H-pipe? I want to avoid the "trumpeting" reported by Dan (and others) when running headers, catless mid and Loudmouths. I would prefer to keep the LMs, and go with a catted X/H pipe, but I can't find one that I know will fit the Hooker LTs (Hooker doesn't appear to make one). As I recall, Dan said the collectors were 22.5" on center.

So, does anyone know for sure if there is something that will fit?

I still say the best and only current option is to weld it some high flow cats.

Since the exhaust system in the 05 is different from years past it will take some time for certain options to become available. Namely a catted mid-pipe for use with most long tube headers.

Kooks ($1500), Stainless Works ($1400), and Dynatech ($1500) have LT+cats available, but I was hoping to mate a catted X/H with the Hookers for around $1000.

You just need those center to center measurements and cut-off lengths ahead of the stock hanger brackets for those catted mid pipes. If they are even close to the 22.5" center to center or the ends are no longer than 6" from the stock hanger brackets you can modify those mids and you should be set.

Otherwise there is still no catted mid that is universal in design.

I see what you're saying Dan. It looks like Hooker does have an X-pipe that can use the stock cats, Part#16684HKR. It is listed on Jegs.com for $323, http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/serv...10605&langId=-1

The Holley website provides these instructions: http://www.holley.com/data/Products/.../199R10350.pdf

What is your take on this set up? Am I correct in assuming that I would cut the stock cats from the stock H-pipe, and then they would fit in between the Hooker X-pipe and the LTs?

Or am I having a brainfart and totally misreading this whole thing????

Anybody running shorty headers with everything else stock (cats, pipes, muffs)? If so, how is the sound?

Nevermind... I was just informed elsewhere that this won't work.

Anyone got a clip of the longtube headers and flowmaster exhaust. Any midpipes will do, as I haven't decided which to go with yet. Maybe it will help me decide
