I have the RK Sport hood , but it's the same with any fiberglass hood. The bolts that hold the hood latch on are screwed into small metal tabs set in the fiberglass. These will hold well enough at low speeds , but at higher speeds there's a chance they could pull out. My last car had a Steeda hood , and they are better than most because they put a much larger piece of metal in the hood. But they still recommend the pins ...

I have the hood and just as a precautionary measure I had the pins installed, although I have to admit that I also like the look of them too. As for the hood lifting at higher speeds, it is unlikely but there is still a very small chance of it occuring.
