Hollow cats, good idea? or bad?

I'm debating hollowing out my cats on my stock h-pipe, I'm not expecting any significant performance gains, but I would like the added sound for my stock 07 GT. Where I live there is absolutely no emissions testing, so that's not an issue. Do you guys think this is something worth doing in my case? I could always spend 200 bucks on a new off-road pipe, but if I can get similar results for free...

So are you saying it's a bad idea? I know I can buy a new x-pipe, but I'd like to save 200 bucks if possible.

I wouldn't, if you ever need to go back for what ever reason buying another catted mid pipe isn't gonna be cheap. Jegs has an offload h pipe for like $160. If you have a tuner then consider long tube headers. You can get a pacesetter setup for like $400. Just my two cents...
