High Temp. Resistant Rubber

Hello everyone!

I'm looking for high temp. resistant rubber. The plan is to use it between the rear-most muffler bracket on the left side and the Flowmaster. Whats happening is the muffler is contacting the bracket when I go over bumpy/rutted roads and railroad tracks. I've had people suggest bending the hanger but I'd rather not resort to that just yet. Does anyone out there know where I can find such material?

Jon

If you are going with the rubber fix, I recommend fiberglass sheet. It is heat resistant and will provide a decent buffer between the two surfaces.

Without seeing the problem, it is hard to make a good recommendation. If it is tight and installed correctly and you are still getting metal/metal contact I would increase the spacing.

I would loosen the axle-back clamps and the mid-pipe clamps and adjust them all so it fits properly. It made a WORLD of difference on mine. Of course, don't lose a hanger-bracket bolt or you get some odd noises

If the other suggestions don't work, dig around in the raw materials section of the McMaster-Carr site (www.mcmaster.com) for some hi-temp rubber sheeting. In the rubber/foam-rubber section, you can even sort by temperature rating (with silicone rubbers having the highest temp range).
