I just read an article on a High-Flow airbox from Pauls High Performance.
it has a stainless steel heat shield, a 10in conical filter for a gain of 10-12 HP
Im assuming this would be a cheap mod which would be fairly easy to install,
anyone else seen anything similar from any other aftermarket shops?

I read it in the Muscle Mustang magazine, december issue, it also had a road test article, and various other 05 accessories.

Was looking at 2005RedGT's cardomain page and came across this
http://www.modularmustangracing.com

That's a little pricey. That setup SHOULDN'T cost more than $125 dollars. All it contains is a KN conical filter and an MAF adapter. I might just make my own, which would cost me under $75.

Stock manual mustang=270-280 rwhp
SCT Tune= ~25 rwhp ......$375 plus custom tune
JDM Mufflers= 3-5 rwhp....$280
MMR Intake= 8-15RWHP (per mft claim)........$199

Using the lowest values, you should be at 306 rwhp with the above mods. Using the highest values, you should be at 325 rwhp. Not bad for about $850 dollars worth of mods plus dyno tuning. That should put the car in the low 13s with average driving and high 12s with great driving/conditions.

If I wanted to save a few dollars, I would. However, they have tested theirs, working with SCT, to have proven HP. It is safer (for me) to pay the extra. At least if it doesn't, I can send it back.

I tried that recently (saving a few bucks) when I bough some GT stripes for my Stang. I paid for them and tried to have a local shop put them on. They screwed them up, and I was out of $320 for the stripes.

Life lessons, lol.

However, I will note this: If you understand the what is required to calculate the "area" and "density" of flowing air in the MAF, I would make it too. But, I am just a puter geek

The only reason I even mention that is this past weekend, the tuner edjumacated me on ram air hood scoops and how he calculates the area required for a hood scoop based on inlet, MAF and filter sizes. All too technical for me. I just buy it and someone else can tune it.

I am a cheap college student about to graduate next month, so money for mods will be tight. I built a filter kit for my Maxima, which looks pretty much similar in design to this one. I will wait and see the results before I do anything. My dealer hasn't even given me a VIN number and I am planning my mods

That would be great. I don't have the car in front of me to really look at the OEM airbox. I might just buy this one, if the gains are verified. You are doing some great research on mods I will be purchasing, thanks!

HP gains on mods dont stack. If those gains are per item the don't total 36hp on the low end. But if they are dyno'd one mod after the other then they would total 36hp.
Stacking, what are you talking about? Those gains are seen on a dyno. The tune will make the mods listed above more effective because you are messing with the A/F ratio as well as a host of other readings that the ECU sees.

I feel most of these air flow systems are all hype. I don't think they can back up the HP gain claiims at all and the prices are outrages If you will take notice in the photos of higher HP motors in Mustangs you will see they are drawing cooler air from outside the engine area. I would like to see a test, ( dyno ) with the stock air cleaner in place, removed' then with the XYZ aftermarket unit installed.
There is no consumer protection in the aftermarket area so they can claim what ever they think we will believe. We have all seen the great gas saving gizmos right?
Is it show or go? How much are you going to pay per horsepower? A hundred bucks or more for one horse? What about the $50 per HP cat backs? If you have first hand, not hear say information tell us. We can all use facts.
Guys and gals what do you think??

I would agree with that. I will do just that on my next dyno on the 11th. We will see if they can back it up.

This is a Ram Air (67 Style) wth tubing that moves air to your airbox. It will ship in about a month and weight is about 55 lbs. I thk the stock aluminum is 40 lbs (but I have no proof). I only kow all this becuase I am intrested for myself and have spoken to them a few times.

67 Copy Hood.

You have installed a lot of parts on your GT and spent lots of $$ but you have not told us the following.
Please do so.

Cat back cost
Where purchased
Install cost
Factual HP gain
Forget the sound are you happy with the HP results?

4:10 Gear cost.
Where purchased
Install cost
Speed diff. in 1/4 mile?
Did you reflash to correct speedometer
Are you pleased with this?
I am thinking of doing my other one (auto ) when it arrives.

Flash unit brand
Cost was
Where purchased.
Who and where was work done
Cost of Dyno testing
What brand was it? They do not all give the same results.
Factual HP gain
Are you pleased with this

You also lowered the GT
I do know the name of this kit.
Where purchased
Cost was
Install cost was
Realine requird ?
Are you pleased with this?

I know from your post that you moved up the fuel shut off to 9000 and changed shift points as well as a harder shift.
Please share with us the Shift point RPM
1--2
2--3
4--4
I will assume that you did not change 4--5. Is that correct?
Are you pleased with this change and did it result in better 1/4 mile times?
Do you think it will kick a manual with a good drivers A-- in the 1/4

This is a whole bunch of questions but it will help me and others get a better grip on the changes you made, cost, etc. and if we want to do the same with our rides.

Thanks in advance.
