Help/Hints for Header Installation

Hello,

i just want to introduce myself. I'm from germany and 2 days ago, my 07 Mustang GT finally arrived. I already orderd some parts do customize it a little bit. I also ordered Ford Racing shorty Headers, and I wanted to start with installation this weekend. As I checked the engine I recognized that there is a lot of stuff like cables an mountings and other things with complicate an easy installation.

I'm searching for hints, tricks and every information which helps me to get my headers installed. What's tricky? What's worth to check twice perhaps...I know there are a lot of guys arround which have installed headers already. Please help me to become a knowing mustang owner. ;-)

Is there a installation manual out there? Or Pics? Thanks in advance guys.

Greetings from Germany

I just installed some LT headers, but I have heard that shorties are way easier.....ie no lift needed. I believe it is a simple swap out. You should be able to go to some spots that sell them, give you the link to download the install.

or do a search on this site.

The pics are great an i already downloaded the JBA instructions. What i don't understand is the fact that i should free the motor on the motor mounts. Is this becauso of insufficient place to install the header? can't i install the header WITHOUT open the motor mounts and lift it up a bit?
For more informations i'm always thankful.

it depends on how many people you have helping you. I had 5 and we still have to raise the passanger side of the engine a bit to wiggle the header in. You could do it without unbolting the motor, but its alot easier if you do. Place a jack under the engine and jack it up SLOWLY. Have someone watch your air intake and what not to make sure it doesn't break from the motor being pushed up.

i installed LT headers on a gt in a few hours, including replacing the subframe. but then again, i had it on a hoist. and when the subframe is out of the car, its unbelievabley easy to replace the headers at that point. Now the passenger side was still a PITA cuz there just isnt a lot of room there. So i would imagine that whether its shorties, or LT's, the passenger side will have to be lifted up.
