Will any of this void the waranty?
Will any of this void the waranty?
Anything, including low air pressure in your tires, CAN void the warrenty if the dealer or Ford feels the mod you did caused the problem. If you blew a rod, Ford COULD claim it was caused by your mods. On the other hand, if you have a problem with your radio, your mods most likely would not effect the warrenty.
Bottom line, if you are at all unsure, don't do the mod.
The Boss Hog . . . . . just my opinion.

The Honda dealer told me that they could and would void a warranty if they suspected that the car had been "abused"! Does this sound kosher? I dropped off my commuter car (bone stock 2002 Civic 5-speed with 35,000 miles) yesterday because it started grinding when shifting into 3rd. This is what the service department told me!?
Turns out they are going to do the work under warranty, but did throw that threat out on the table as soon as they found out that the ENTIRE transmission had to be completely overhauled (I'm guessing $4000 worth of work).
I have a Class B CDL and have double-clutched 7-speed tandem axle box vans all over the hills of San Francisco. I know how to drive a stick for x's sake! That car has never even been within 1000 rpms of redline, never power-shifted, never run hard, and serviced every 5k miles at the dealer too. How can a 115 hp engine with a rev limiter break a tranny at 35k miles? I'm just happy it happened at 35k and not 37k. New tranny will have 12k mile warranty, so I'll dump this turd in another 11k miles or so.
Can't wait until the American car vs. Japanese car argument comes up again. This is the first and last rice burner I ever buy...
Long story short... seems like honoring warranties is a subjective game and the dealer has the house advantage.

I talked to the service manager at my dealer yesterday. I asked if modifiing the car will void the waranty ? He said as long as the car is not abused or raced, and the part was propery installed and did not cause a malfunction in the car it should be ok. Example, if you install a CAI and reflash so the check engine light does not come on, the car is running ok. If you add a CAI and do not reflash and you burn a hole in the piston because it is running lean and the check engine light is on the computer will tell the tech that the car was run in a unsafe manner and now you are in trouble. Remember dealers make their money on the service department not on car sales, the exception being what they are charging for the Mustang., so it is in the dealers best interest not to deny your claim for waranty unless it is a oblivious abuse. Just hope you can find a service department that is not run by a jerk or someone that does not like you and you should not have a problem. IMO

Okay, first of all he didnt ask the question, and just because he doesnt drive a mustang doesnt mean he cant pass along his warranty experience to someone who did ask the question.
And if you read the post he said he is getting rid of it soon and will never buy a japanese car again again.
