Put it in the bank towards a CAI and a tune.

agreed, otherwise, if you most spend it on something, a set of pullies should do the trick

how much power does the cai and tune actully gain... most of them look like they just put a cone filter on a stock looking intake...

C&L Intake + Bamachips tune = night and day

see my signature for mods and dyno results, the majority of which comes from the intake and tune.

I have a JLT2 and a Bamachips tune. I use a 91 octane race tune. Along with vastly improved drivability and response, you can expect to gain around 20-25 hp. With UDP's and Borla Stingers and the above mods, I put down 303rwhp/317rwtq. This was on a prior Bamachips tune, with the race tune I have now I expect those numbers to be even higher.

I agree save up for a JLT and tune. OR if you got to spend, a set of Pulleys.

Good Luck

If you really want something now, get the pullies. There's not re-tune needed with them, and it's noticable right away. Of course, that bump will get you itching for more, and more, and more. Next I'd save up for a CAI and tune.
I actually did mine CAI first, pullies second, but I had the cash to spend $700 on the C&L intake + Diablo predator.

A 7-10hp increase vs better drivability, gas mileage, and overall enjoyment as well as 25-30hp increase. Your choice =)

If you have a Manual Trans, get the Hurst Shifter. It only goes for just under $200 and it makes the car really FUN. I know it won't shave more than a milisecond off of your quarter mile, but it looks great and I love mine!

I'm in about the same boat. 200 dollars and my car is starings at me saying drive me. I've added a corsa exhaust and some mobil 1, but otherwise I'm a stocker, (not in that sense). I am considering a tune but am not willing to go to 91 octane for the tune. If I kept my car at 87 octane, will the toon have any effect. As for intakes, I'm considering a MAC because of a comparo I read in which, it yeilded the most power for the least money. Anyway, any advice on the tune would be appreciated.

Yeah, a tune will make a difference. Even at 87 octane. Biggest thing is the throttle lag that Ford left in. The new tune will get rid of that, so when you mash the pedal it'll accelerate right away, instead of having to wait a few fractions of a second. Just getting a cold air intake like the K&N won't fix that for you.

If money's tight and you're trying to figure out what to do next, the best thing you can do is research. Not just asking the questions here and expecting an absolute answer, but doing lots of reading on all the previous threads here about upgrades. It'll take time, and you're eyes will hurt, but you'll learn a whole lot by all the input on this (and other) forum(s).

Actually, although I know I left this out, I've been reading and researching these forums since this website's introduction. I have never come across information on the effectiveness of an 87 octane tune and was just wondering if it was worth my while. I added a corsa exhaust not too long ago, and that seems to have somehow solved the throtle response issue.
