Arrow Has anyone tried this AP Racing Brake setup?

Thinkin about upgrading the brakes on my '07 gt and wanted some opinions and/or advice

i was looking at this brake kit and was wondering how good it was for the money:
http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?id=APBRKIT4P&c=BR

http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?id=BPREARCNV1&c=BR

i want to eliminate that mushy brake pedal feel but also want a lot of stopping power for when i supercharge the car later

how do the ap racing brakes comparre to the frpp brembos(gt500)?
http://www.modulardepot.com/product_...roducts_id=329

i would also prefer the brakes to have red calipers, is it hard to repaint the black calipers red?

AP brakes are as good as and maybe better than the Brembo’s. You can order the front and rear from Stillen as a kit with red calipers.

i was also looking at this article and was leaning towards either the 4 piston ap racing or the wilwoods

http://mustanglife.tenmagazines.com/...ticle&aid=3521

how much of a difference is the 13" wilwoods from the 14"? how do these compare to the ap racing, since they are 6 piston instead of 4?

Hey there,

Hope I can help some here. Not a brake expert but have a fair amount of knowledge.

As far as comparing to the FRPP Brembos, the last thing I will do is downplay another companies components. All I can say about that kit is that it is a one piece rotor (as contrasted with the AP 2 piece full floating sets). There are other differences also in terms of caliper design and rotor material that are significant (reasons that I personally would run AP brakes on my car if I could - have an SN95 right now).

As for the calipers, they are available in either red with black print or black with yellow print - so no need to paint them.

Feel free to contact me if there is anything I can do to help.

Thanks Much

I have the Wilwood 14 inch fronts and they are great brakes. I’m not sure how much difference it would make with the 13 inch rotors but unless you are doing road race events I doubt the difference between 6 and 4 piston calipers would be noticeable. The Wilwood fronts are an easy install but the rears are a real pita. For the cost of the Stillen front and rear kit I think you would be hard pressed to find a better deal for a complete upgrade.

What did you do with the rears?
$3k is a bit high, but they do look good.

as far as braking goes with the ap racing setup, how is the feel?
is there any shuddering? is it a firm/solid press? basically are they pretty confident brakes? i want ones with a lot of "bite"
