Has anyone dyno'd on the 93 Race Tune yet?

I dyno'd my car Saturday on the Bamachips 93 Race tune and was hoping for a little more horsepower than what I got. I put down 315 and the car was pretty rich. With my mods I was thinking I'd be higher than that. I have seen some other people with fewer mods hit that number. The 315 is SAE corrected and I'm thinking some people might not be posted their corrected numbers. Any thoughts? Also is anyone else running rich with their 93 Race tune?

HI there

Is that 315 RWHP? If so I'd say thats pretty good !

I can't comment if the RACE tune actually runs richer but I think it does due to the fact my exhaust seems to get blacker quicker which is normally a sign of running rich, though it can't be that bad as the car does not smell rich. Doug does always say he sets his tunes slightly rich for safety reasons.

The only good tuner out there is Brenspeed, maybe give one of his tunes a try?

Yeah that's 315rwhp. I'm completely satisfied with the tune just concerned about it running on the rich side.

I'm considering the identical level of mods that you currently have. You likely wanted to see 320HP but the 315 is nice. What was your torque number? Are you auto or manual?

Hi there

Sorry that me coming across wrong! I meant to say "another good tuner is Brenspeed".

From reading these forums and from personal experience Doug (Bamachips) and Brenspeed seem the two best tuners for email tunes.

Well with my mods I'm pushing 297rwhp on a 93 performance tune. Looks like your doing really good to me. I didn't think LT headers and an x-pipe would give you that much more without a blower.

What mufflers are you running by the way?

I'm running stock muffler's till I get my magnapacks side exhaust here in a week or so. I'd have to look at my torque numbers I think they were around 335. I'm pleased but was hoping for a little more. I guess I should be pleased because my car could be one of those with a lower baseline horsepower. I've seen them anywhere from 262 rwhp to 272 rwhp. So say mine was 262 and it's up to 315 that's 53 horsepower to the rear wheels or even if I was at the high end at 272 that's 43 horsepower. So I'd say the $1800 I spent to buy these mods from my friend was worth it.

Yeah I'm glad you cleared that up. I'm more than pleased with how my car runs with Doug's tune and wouldn't look anywhere else for a good tune.

I got the same JLT 1 with xcal, steeda pulleys and Flowmasters. I was kind of disappointed by only getting 291 at the rear wheels, but that was with the DTP tune, not the 93 torque tune. I think I got the lower 262 hp cars (that sucks) right out of the box. I know most of the LT headers and xpipes will get you round 13-15 rwhp gains (MM & FF). What was your Dyno with one of dougs other tunes (performance or torque) to see what you had before the tune change. You might be at 300RWHP with out the LT Xpipe set up. I know I am hung up on dyno numbers. I want to increase some more HP, but not much else can be done short of dropping about 1300.00 for a xpipe/LT set up. How much was you LT/xpipe set up? and where did you get it from?

Good job BTW

I bought all my performance mods from my buddy who had them on his
'05 for $1800 so I got a hell of a deal. I didn't buy any of Doug's other tunes I just heard where everyone had fallen in love with his Race tune so I went with it.

Hi there

Yup gotta agree. I've tried all three of Dougs tunes and his race tune is amazing. Its what I run my car with though it would be nice to see how say tunes from Brenspeed, JDM and Evolution compare etc.

I think that is fine with your mods.

Brenspeed is a good tuner, but far from the only good one. Doug is also a very good tuner. I, and dozens of people on this board, have had excellent results with his tunes. Excellent customer service and support, and, he's local to me.

Edit: I see you amended your comment, and I agree.
