GT500 Strut Tower Brace - What to do with it
I still have a GT500 STB (OEM) that I bought real cheap. It won't work on my Stang because the hood clearance is too tight (or the hoodliner is too thick). Any ideas on what I can do to make it work on a vehicle besides turn it into a Klingon weapon or hang it on my wall? I may just toss it out since it is taking up storage space.

do you have the old style hood liner as the newer style (which I think was standard on GTs starting in early '07) has a built indent to accomodate the Bullitt style STB. Wonder if the GT500 one sits higher than the Bullitt model?
looks like you have 2 options... keep the brace and get a newer liner (assuming it will clear), or ditch the STB. If you decide to "ditch it", let me know as I would take it off your hands.
I have one in yellow Ill sell. If you want it to work flip it over. Have the arch go to the firewall, not the front of the car. If you do put it with arch facing forward, you can put a couple of washers to tilt the rise of the brace down a hair to clear.
Since that is the same STB that comes on the GT500, one would have to think it will clear the Whipple. That is one I will consider after I get the Edelbrock installed and get a chance to do some measurements.
well the picture didn't help me with any ideas. I liked the turn it around and face it the other way. would that work? Here's a silly idea heat it up and push in down where you need it to be.
The Whipple is taller than the Eaton that comes on the GT500...

Turning it around, will only clear if your not using an intake plenum cover. Otherwise it will not work !

If your using a stock GT hood, it will not clear. You must upgrade to either a GT500 hood, or an aftermarket hood, which has more clearance !

Changing the hood liner, will not make any difference. In fact I even tried with no hood liner at all, and there were still slight bulges on both sides of my hood, above the fender. Therefore I got rid of it, altogether.

Yes, the GT500 hood does sit higher, and also has more clearance. Where as the Bullitt's hood, is no different from a stock GT hood with the exception of having the updated hood blanket. Which is only designed to accommodate the Bullitt's cold air intake along with the Bullitt STB, however it is clearly not designed to accommodate the GT500 STB whatsoever !
