GT500 driveline

I am going to building a motor this winter and was wondering if anyone knows how much hp and trq a GT500 tranny, and rear end will hold up to and how much the GT will hold up to?

Also wondering if the heads from an 05 GT will fit on a terminator block?

Most say around 450RWHP is the safe point for the GT. Not too sure about the GT500.

The GT500 engine will take 800rwhp easy. Not sure about the trans or rearend. I'm pretty sure the GT500 has the same 8.8 as we do. That's probably going to be your weak link.

Eh no...

If you're actually talking about the block itself the GT500's would be stronger because it's iron not aluminum. The GT's block has seen 1000+ rwhp so it's plenty strong anyway.

There's only one 1400rwhp TT GT that I'm aware of and it's Joe's in florida. Got any pics? Joe's might be stock block but I'm not sure.

You can bolt any top end 2v 4v 3v to any bottom end. 3v heads would work completely fine with a terminator block.

There's a lot more to it than the material used. I'm quite sure the GT's block is stronger than the GT500's. Ford made **** sure:

Very, very interesting read but the GT500 was designed after the GT was. I'm fairly sure they made an almost identical iron block for the GT500. The GT500 uses the EXACT same aluminum heads as the GT.

I have heard about the GT having better internals. If you want to dicuss the 5.4 blocks please start your own threads and stop hijacking.

Well since the Ford GT was Ford's supercar/halo/world beater they used the best of the best. I don't know all the specs but I've read that the GT was built much stronger. I'm looking now for the specs on the GT500 engine block.

I don't remember there being a question about the block The gt500 rear is the same as the Gt's. The T56 has a dual plate clutch setup IIRC. May want to check svtperformance.com and see what the guys modding GT500's are getting out of the clutches.

Nothing else will bolt up. His entire front accessory drive system including water pump and timing cover will not work.

Dynamic: Keep the Mustang GT block it is plenty strong even past 500RWHP. Buy a terminator crank and rods, and some better pistons. The rotating assembly will work in the s197 GT block.

The GT block uses a dry sump oiling system and is very differernt from the GT500 block. It is also much stronger. You can't just say "well it's aluminum and the GT500 iron so it must be stronger."

I guess my 5.0 iron block which will split at 500RWHP is stronger than a GT...
