GT500 airbox and MAF retrofit for GT?

Is it possible to retrofit the 2007 GT500 airbox and MAF into the GT? It looks like the MAF housing area and the inlet tube diameter are much larger than the stock GT airbox.

It might be pretty complicated since the intake track is plumbed differently underhood. Have you looked into the airbox that comes with the magnacharger or saleen blowers? I am sure somebody isn't going to use on that came with their kit.

Has anyone looked into replacing just the stock inlet tube with either the Steeda piece or C&L Racer?

Why not go with the Steeda/FRPP filter/MAF assembly if you are wanting to stick with 'Ford' parts? Aren't those offered on some 'factory' vehicles?

The GT500 airbox is oriented differently for the TB location. I'm wondering if it could be mounted in the GT with a revised air inlet tube. The MAF housing looks significantly larger than the stock MAF.

I replaced my stock inlet with the new Steeda tube the moment it became available and the difference was night and day..As for the Steeda/FRPP MAF assembly ? their installed as factory equipment on both the Shelby GT-H and the all new Shelby GT that will be arriving at dealerships next month.

it would be really complicated because you would need to retune if the MAF houseing is bigger and figure a way to get your intake tube to twist as the tube is pointed more towards the firewall then the motor like the GT box is

Try the Saleen tube, much larger. I believe JDM sells them now.

isn't that thing designed for the SC and comes with the pulley and stuff or did you get just the intake alone

you may buy just the pipe on its own. Its off of the extreme edition but fits just fine on the GT. I havnt ordered one yet but do plan on it.

The installation of this air kit does require a re tune. Also required for the use of this kit is a 90mm Lightning style mass air meter.

that is the only part that sucks about it, $200 plus shipping then another $180+ for a 90mm MAF i would stick to a $180 JLT

For Naturally aspirated Mustangs our cold air kit has always been a simple setup of open 7" S&B Filter, Heat sheild, Maf adapter, and 90mm maf housing. This setup works great and is still offered seperatley for $225. But we have now incorporated along with the kit a Saleen intake tube option for $299.

For the Saleen Supercharged cars to whom we have always offered the C&L racer tube with bump boots for $195 would have to use our lower motor mounts ($185). This in part because of the angle and size of the racer tube. Now you only have to use the Saleen intake tube which is just $98

Thats from teamJDM, good guys with good prices
