grinding the strut tower

I just lowered my 05 not too long ago and took it to the shop to get an alignment. The car is dropped 1.5 inches all around and to get it back into proper alignment, camber bolts were used in addition to having the strut towers grinded.

Has anyone else had the strut towers grinded?

When I lowered mine I installed the Steeda strut mounts, the alignment shop still needed to use a camber bolt on one side.

Opening the hole a bit sounds like it might be an acceptable alternative, provided of course you don't remove too much and compromise the structure. How much bigger did they make the hole?

I am not exactly sure....but would that be reasonable if the camber bolts were not able to bring in back into alignment?

Have you heard of this being done before? I thought it kind of sounded odd to me, but I have been going to these guys for almost 20 years now, so I do trust them.

That sounds kind of odd to me. There is already some play in the strut tower mounts so why would they need to enlarge the hole and use camber bolts? Did you have them set it to factory alignment or something more like a race set-up? I lowered mine 1" and didn't need camber bolts to get it to factory specs. A friend has his lowered 1.5 like you and only needed camber bolts to get to factory alignment specs.

Yeah, I think I will confirm with the shop what was done exactly.

If anyone else knows about this issue, please chime in
