I'm curious as to why the Steeda CAI wasn't tested.

Probably because they didn't send one. They said several manufacturers didin't want to participate.

Very informative, txs. Looks like the MAC gives the biggest bang for the buck, but like they said it needs a nice tube to complement it.

Thanks to both of you who had the common courtesy to share this information with us. Says a lot for the ones that had it and told us they had it but did not share the link.

From what I can tell this is the first time the link to the actual article was posted. When the other thread was started, the article wasn't available online yet.

So if I remove the carbon trap I get +/- 6rwhp add a MAC straight shot get +/- another 24rwhp which is about a total 30rwhp gain for about a $150.00? Can I do this without a tune and not run to lean, burning 87 octane? How much mileage would I loose assuming normal driving conditions? Does anyone know what a SCT service statation would charge for a tune versus buying a Predator or XCAL? For me I can't justify spending 300 + for a tunner when I'll probably only use it the one time or very little. I appreciate your replies in advance, thanks.

The only intake that you will be able to use without a tune is K&N. All others require a tune to max the potential of the intake, as well as prevent the cel.

That's somewhat different from what I believe was stated in the article. The MRT intake did not not require a tune. In the article they indicated that adding a tune to the MRT intake did not significantly change the values for the intake.

That was a good clarification. That was my understanding also, that the CAI were installed and dyno'd with the tune.

I just want to retract my fangs for now, and say thanks to those who did the testing which finally made available to us 05 Mustang GT owners some long awaited 3rd party comparison numbers for all of the most popular CAI's currently on the market, even though the actual gains from the CAI's were incorrectly published.
But I think that were astute enough to correct the numbers in order to make an intelligent decision.

Whoops, sorry about the copyright faus pax. Will try to not let that happen again.

In a nutshell, the numbers published in the article as the gains made by installing the aftermarket CAI's appear to incorrectly represent the actual gains achieved by these CAI's since these gains are the difference between the numbers for the 'untuned' baseline run with the stock CAI installed and the HCF removed, and the numbers for the 'tuned' runs with the aftermarket CAI's installed and HCF removed.
This means that the tune is contributing to the gains claimed to be from the CAI's alone.

It would seem that the actual gains from the CAI's is the difference between the 'tuned' baseline run with the stock CAI installed and the HCF removed, and the 'tuned' runs with the aftermarket CAI's installed and the HCF removed.
Hence, these differences represent the actual gains realized from installing the CAI's.

Does anyone by any chance have any info. concerning the Anderson Ford Motorsport P.P ? I noticed that it uses a Pro.M80mm. mass air meter and a recalibrated sensor that replaces the stock mass air sensor, which is supposed to provide up to 16 addtional HP. with no re-flash required... could something like this really work, without causing the air and fuel ratio to run lean ?? according to the test results, it ranked just behind c&l... I'd really appreciate any feedback that you may be able to provide... Thanks
