what's the diference, (if any) between the BBK and the Granatelli, and is the BBK MAF upgradable for a custom tune? Reason I ask is I like the look of the polished cai, but have read on other posts horrer stories about the Granatelli.

Personally you couldn't pay me to buy anything granatelli. I've heard too many bad things about them and their products.

Any specifics in regard to their CAI? I don't want to have to do a tune, and Granatelli claims no tune needed. Any input from those who have installed one on their car?

I have had the GMS CAI installed for about 12000 miles, no issues at all. I have recently gotten an X-Cal 3 from Brenspeed, and they did a custom tune for me, using the GMS intake. I did have to re-install the Ford sensor, but that was no issue, as I had saved it after doing the initial install. Make me a reasonable offer, and I would sell you mine, as I am going to go with a supercharger in the fall and will not be needing it.

I've had Granatelli CAI for close to 25,000 miles.....no problems. Fuego tune, 20,000 miles no problems, or with any other of the GMS products.

If you don't already have a cai or a tuner your best bet would be to go to a company like www.brenspeed.com and get a cai/tuner/tune as an all in one package. It will be a lot cheaper that way and you'll get a better tune.

If I had to choose a CAI without a tune I'd go for the C&L intake with the no tune insert, that way if I ever decide to get a tune I would just take the insert out and and load a tune in, DONE

I really like how someone blasts a product and dodges all questions about why they don't like it.

I've had a Granatelli CAI for nearly two years now with no problems at all. I love it.

I too have had Granatelli CAI two years (on 06 GT) no issues. Now it's on my 08 GT and doing fine.

I didn't intend to start any GMS bashing at all. I have no experience with their products or service. This thread is the only reason I asked my question.....

It's a long read, but interesting. Hope that clarifies my point.

It seems like that thread is mostly about the Fuego tuner and a flame war that erupted over it. My concern is with Granatelli's CAI only. So far, no one has said they bought it and didn't like it. Does it make a noticeable difference? Any problems? Thanks again.

I've never been on the dyno with mine but, there is a definite seat of the pants difference in power. I also got better mpg afterwards (2-3mpg) and the exhaust has a better sound (mine was stock exhaust when I put it on).

From my recollection, I'm not going to dig through my paperwork now. I was stock 265hp, GMS CAI 270-something, and GMS CAI & Fuego 280-something. I did have GMS 2 1/2 " cat-back system on at the time of all testing.
Bottom line the CAI is a great product!!! If you want custom tunes later you can switch back to stock MAF and still use it, after you buy the $400 tuner. But, for ready to go CAI it can't be beat. My .02 & experience.
DUN - Done
It's off to Vegas now $$$$$$ see ya........

Like I said. You are going to want a tuner and a tune anyway so you are better off buying it all as one package for a cheaper price and if you get a cai from the same place as the tune chances are the tune will be better because it will be for that specific cai.
