Granatelli Coil Packs, any real dyno proof
Bottom line....Again.... We are offering a simple to bolt on part that offers a performance improvement. It does it for less then the OE replacment part and has a better warranty. We all agree that the coils will show a large percentage improvement on a higher hp car then a stock 300hp engine. I agree the debate has gone on for what seems like forever. it is also proven that no matter what numbers I put up someone will be very happy and another will be very happy to say seem it ain't all that great.
I offered to sell 2 sets at cost so I did my part

Did I say ANYTHING about you, your company or your products? No.
Many of the big Mustang magazines have printed "reviews" of parts that simply are BS. The "results" they get are not even CLOSE to the results that everyone in the real world get with the exact same product.
Often, the test procedure they used is completely faulty. For example, they do a before/after test on a CAI. The before test is bone stock. But the CAI won't work with the stock tune (most of the good CAIs out there), so they ALSO reflash the car with an SCT tune.
Then they run their after test and report that the CAI made 30hp. The truth is the CAI made much less than that. The tune was worth a fairly significant portion of that gain.
If they want to actually TEST the product, they would have installed the base SCT tune on the baseline run to minimize the variations. But that wouldn't have given as big an increase on the new widget, so...
I've also noticed that quite often when this kind of garbage is going on, the shop performing the test and running the dyno is affiliated with the company that makes the part. The problem here is even if they DO run a 100% neutral test, there is an appearance of impropriety and you will ALWAYS doubt their test methodology.
Here is something for you to think about: Have you ever read through the HP/torque tables for these tests? Have you ever seen a case where the HP was NOT equal to the torque at 5252 rpm? I have. And because HP is a CALCULATED value based on torque and rpm, that simply isn't possible. So where did the conflicting numbers come from? They sure as heck didn't come from a proper dyno run. I've seen cases where there was a 30hp offset on the after case, but the before case was exactly as the math demands.
I'm SURE it was all a simple mistake.
But I DO have to wonder how these "mistakes" only seem to make the parts under test look BETTER and NEVER worse.
Or how the company that is making the parts under test manage to have their ad for that exact same part within a page or so of the "article" testing that part. Strangely enough, in magazines that run tests that I actually trust, you will NEVER see that sort of thing simply because the editorial team is completely isolated from the advertising team.
Which all boils down to the simple fact that I, for one, do NOT trust the Mustang magazines to perform truly unbiased tests. And at times, I think it goes a LONG ways beyond "simple mistakes" and an inability to perform unbiased tests.
I do agree that you will not manage to make everyone happy. That's human nature. But I would suggest that if you keep digging your hole deeper and deeper, it comes a point where you just need to put the shovel down.
Thank you
I tip my hat to you J.R., you have come here and werehonest enough to say your COPs are not the 2nd coming but improve performance..I wish we could come to an agreement on a 3rd party test ,but your statement was classy...If I bought a set and went to Tillmans to get before and after numbers could I get a break on dyno time CR???
ps I would even purchase a tILLMAN TUNE..

That was the quoted price. What can I say. I know I could change the coils but since I would do a before and after pull say 1 hour apart it wouldn't prove a thing to change them in advance. I think they quoted 1 hr. to change the coils out. Which seems fair. They would also do 3 pulls before and after the change plus update my tune if required. I know that's overkill but that was the price given. It wasn't just a 1 pull deal which is why the price seems high. Forget about my quoted price Jake. Your taking your eye off of the ball here. The original post in this thread says he read the advertisment where the GMS coil packs will add 12 hp to a N/A motor and more to the FI engines. I have read the same. We have asked GMS to post proof of this. He posted great vids of supercharged versions but nothing N/A. I have asked like 4 thimes for GMS to back up his own advertisment. And I still wait. There have been offers of indepenant testing by Tillman if a set was just sent to him. Still nothing. Tom281 has offered twice in this thread to buy them at retail if they work and at GMS costs if they don't. Again nothing. I could post GMS own vids and advertisement here to prove my point that GMS own advertisements make claims about N/A horsepower increases but I have to ask. Did they lose or forget to make that vid of a N/A car. So for everyone following this thread and this goes for you JR. Go back to the #1 post in this thread and post your responses to his question. Get this thread back on track. Fair enough? I hope this is not coming across as a GMS bash. That is not my intent. Just asking GMS to validate their own advertisements about the 12 hp increase to our N/A motors. You know there is still truth in advertising in my world. Buck up or shut up is my motto about this mod now!!!

Bringing subject again on top.
Guys if you change for higher Voltage cops like Granatelli ones I would recommend to increase the standard spark plug gap what with stronger spark will then definitely improve the combustion and the power.
I am wondering what Granatelli would suggest for N/A Mustangs with lets say they Red Coil Packs 45000volts – I would suggest .060 gap

I wish I had seen this thread a couple of months ago. I bought the 60,000V GMS coil pack a couple of months ago. I didn't have a before and after done. My car is not a daily driver, and I still have the stock ones. I guess i could send them to CR so he could do a test and have them sent back. Everyone has probably lost interest in them at this point though.

This is pretty interesting, wish we had some independent results after 5 pages
If I happen to fall into some money, I'll throw the ol stroker on the dyno and see what happens

Granatelli Coil Packs either give your published 12 hp increase or they do not.
This is not rocket science.
Grab ANY stock SN197 Mustang GT, take it to any 3rd party Dyno. Dyno the thing. There is your baseline. Now install your Granatelli Coil Packs. make zero other changes or adjustments. Dyno the thing again. Post the independent Dyno proof of your performance claims.
Or possibly proof of no performance gains.
Done.
These Granatelli Coil Packs either give your published "12 hp increase" performance gain or they do not.
It couldn't be much simpler than that.

I am falling into some cash in February and I am gonna do exactly what the previous poster said...I will post the dyno sheets here...you got that JR!!! I'll be calling you so polish up a set of your best Coils for me!!! (pm me if you wanna offer any special pricing!!! i'll tell you exact mods and dyno tuner details etc)

Tested by Saleen on a stock N/A Saleen - they claimed 5 to 6 HP after several back to back tests.
Test by Stage 5 in New york or FL i don't recall - on Ford GT made and help maintain big numbers

So the simple answer would have been...NO we can't get 12 Horsepower from our Coil Packs on a stock SN197 4.6 Mustang.
But we have customers who have documented 5 and 8 horsepower increases.
Here are the before and after dyno results.
(Attach 4 dyno results here)
End of Friggin thread. Period.

I saw the latest flyer from Moss Mustang where they ( Granatelli ) are selling coil packs and claim a 12 hp increase on natural aspirated motors (more on blown or turbo models).
Is there any proof to a HP increase with this mod? No offense to Granatelli, but others have claimed mods will increase HP (TB for example) and that was all BS.

This has been done before again and again. Tested on a harley truck and s197 by Extreme Auto in Canoga park CA. Harley made 15hp gain and S197 made 8
