Purchased a SCT Xcalibrator from Dallas Mustang today and it stinks!!
It came with a 93 octane program that they tweaked from the base SCT program, still feels sluggish on the throttle and no seat of the pants difference at all
Only mods so far are k&n filter, sct and hydro carbon removal.
Am I expecting to much?? I read all this responses saying 25 horse power, no lag on throttle, feels like a different motor. I dont notice any of that whats up?
Anyone got a better xtr file that they would be willing to email me?
What should I do??

Thanks for the help,
Jason

Uh, someone didn't do something right. Did you have the car put on a dyno? Sometimes the tune doesn't take. Believe me the SCT works and works very well!

No i did not put it on the dyno. I just purchased a canned program that they offered with the xcalibrator that they said they had tweaked some.

How do I know if the reflash took?? I watched the progress lights on the programer and the guy at Dallas Mustang helped me do it in the parking lot.

Help!!

Jason, something definately doesn't sound right. The SCTFlash simply rocks. Worked very well for me. Did you pay attention to the diagnostic LED's? Did you get any error codes? You should contact the company you got it from. If you got the pc cable they can send you a new flash via email so you can reprogram it and try again.

Jason - the SCT (alone) will not give you much - it needs to be combined with one of the CAI units out there. For instance the Steeda, MMR, CLT all have dyno'd in the +25rwhp range - but you need the CAI for the increase in air flow. I have the JLT (just installed today with the SCT) and it rocks.....definite SOP improvement, revs quicker, more power and the throttle seems more responsive too.

Good luck !

Yes I watched the lights as they first saved my original factory flash and then it installed the new program. Got no error codes at all. I wonder if when they tweaked the sct 93 octane program if they f---ed it up, not knowing what they were doing?? I do not have my confidence in Dallas Mustang and they made it sound like they were only seeing gains in the 8-10 horse power from the few that they had dynoed.

Anyone got a better flash that they would be willing to share??

Jason - did you install a CAI unit with the SCT? If not - I don't believe you are going to see anywhere near 25rwhp increase in hp as with the CAI - you need them both - as I understand

8-10 is about right for hydro removal and tune only - the K&N filter won't get you anything, maybe 1-2 if that. But the throttle part bothers me. I only want one of these tuner things (initially anyhow) to lose the damn3d throttle response from heck! The factory computer tune for the throttle is pathetic. Get it to 3k, take 5 seconds to drop back to idle speeds. urrgh. Keep this updated please. I would like to know more about the throttle piece. The HP sounds about right though.

Peet - for the record - since installing the Jlt/SCT today - my throttle "feels" much more responsive - I need to drive it more to be sure - but it just seems "crisper" than before.

With a good tune program, you should be able to feel a definate kick-in-the-pants increase, no matter which box (SCT, Diablo) was used to put the tune into the car. Most "tunes" I have heard about adjust the rev limiter upward somewhat so you should be able to confirm if the "tune" was actually uploaded by seeing where the rev limiter kicks in.
Good luck and let us know what you find out.

hey if you guys are getting 25+ rwhp out of a CAI and an SCT tune, how much hp at the crank would that equate to?? accounting for drivetrain loss, 25+ rwhp is pretty freakin awesome!! i cant wait for the tax check to get here!!!!!!

There was a very definate increase in the throttle response when I loaded mine. If you can't feel the increase then I would try to re-load it again. If you don't feel it then there must be a problem with the settings they used. I would be careful about downloading a tune that was designed to be used with a CAI though. No telling what will happen with the A/F ratio. Just my opinion.

I was hoping that someone had a different tune for a SCT with the same mods that I have. SCT, hydro carbon gone, k&n. Anyone :worship:

I guess I will try to re-flash again today and post if it is different.

I see a JLT CAI with there tune coming my way.

Thanks

25 rwhp divided by 0.85 = 29 crank hp

Yes, I have read of ppl getting 20rwhp gains just from a flash and hc trap removal:

http://www.alternativeauto.com/prods...tang_tune.html

Maybe those guys would be willing to hook you up with their tune.

Nope, your wrong-

Pick up the latest MM&FF, Article-"Six Pack"

They get about 25hp just from a tune....no CAI. And a 2hp gain from the HC removal. You should feel/see a difference.

OK I am now feeling much better about the SCT and my tune. I reloaded the custom tune, I guess the first time it did not take for some reason I am now a happy camper Totally different throttle response, feels much more peppy than before and no throttle lag!!! I still want to get the JLT CAI and tune next week. But for now all I can say is much better than before!! I would definetly recommend the SCT now.

Thanks for all the responses!!

Thanks for the input on the SCT. I am talking to my service manager now to see if I can do the install without voiding my warranty.

05GT-Baby ... let us know what your dealer says ... I'm curious myself ... I paid a bunch for the extended warranty, and I'm not sure its worth it to mod if I'm going to lose the warranty I spent $$$ on.
