Got $1500 to spend!

Hey everybody I thought it would be a good idea to run my proposed mods by you all to see what you think. Any comments are greatly appreciated.

I have a 2008 GT/CS 5-speed (w/ stock 3.27 rear gear) that is totally stock. I'm looking to have a good fun everyday driver. I have 1500 bucks to spend and this is what I'm planning:

1. Bamachip tune w/CAI (C&L) and SCT tuner
2. Borla Stingers or the Ford Racing Equal (whatevers cheaper)
3. Ford Racing clamp on X-pipe
4. MRD shifter

Anyone have any better ideas or advice?

Just checking before I spend the buck. . . Thanks!

Sounds like you have the money well spent. Hmmm how about some performance headlights?

1) Brenspeed tune SCT tuner and JLT cai
2) Borla stingers
3) MGW shifter or Pro50 shifter

I'd not do the X-pipe until you hear it with the Borlas first..... after hearing it, you may be perfectly happy with it as is and the clamp-on X pipe won't give you anymore power really, it will just change the sound.

1. Steeda CAI w/ high flow elbow(flows more air and has a better heat shield than the C&L).
2. Bamachips 93 Race tune(best tune ever.)
3. Tokico D-specs and Steeda Ultralight springs.(Mustang handling is the worst/biggest complaint.)
4. 4.30s(better than 4.10s and $50 cheaper).
5. Hawk brake pads (more stoppage for the more more powerage).

I take a balanced approach, many people focus on the HP. Power, handling, and braking are all recommended upgrades. I have done the first two, I am working on the the last three atm.

Exhaust and the shifter doesn't accomplish much more than noise and effort. No hp gain, imo.

I agree with the idea to get the mufflers first, then the X pipe if you are not satisfied. Other than that, I would suggest you go one step at a time so you can see how much difference each mod makes. If you do a bunch of stuff all at once, you will never know what mod did how much and what. Good times!

I think the CAI and tune will change the way you look and feel about your pony every time you get behind the wheel...

Not saying the other mods are not good too and be money well spent...

Even so, you think that you will be able to stop at just those 4?...

Right!

invest that 1500 untill it turns into 5k then buy a s/c
if not I have to agree with the lowering springs and the other hardware that goes with that, the tune, cai and mufflers also

Thanks for the help everyone! Awsome suggestions. It's sooo tempting to go with the JLT CAI due to the cheaper price, but I just love the look of the C&L. I'll have to take a look at the Steeda one again too. Thanks again!

I had the FRPP stingers on my '06. I liked them, but they were REALLY loud IMO, and the drone at highway speeds got old. When I got a new car, I went with the FRPP GTAs, and I like them a lot better. if you don't like drone at highway speeds, i would suggest something other than the stingers.

I have the JLT, a hurst, the x-pipe and GTAs and next I might get 3.73s or lower control arms to take away the wheel hop.

btw your stock gear ratio is probably 3.31 not 3.27.

Thanks DW. I could save a lot of cash by going with the GTA's. If I'm right, I believe those are the same as the ones on the Shelby GT right? Thanks for correcting me on the gear ratio too. I knew it was 3-thirty-somthing. Take care.

The GTA's are the same as the Shelby GT's mufflers. I have those and love it, great sound without being obnoxious inside the car. The price is great too.

Ok, I spent the wad over the weekend. . . Heres what I got coming:

-Brenspeed Tune w/ C&L street CAI
-MGW shifter
-Black hurst ball ****
-FRPP X-pipe add-in
-FRPP GTA Axle back

I plan on putting it all on at one time this coming weekend or next. I cant wait to feel the difference! Thanks for the help! I'll be sure and post some before and after pics.
