Oops, please dont mind the typo in the title...
The Koing Beyonds are the only wheels that I really like as both a Street and Strip Wheel. Drags in style
The only thing that Im not thrilled about is having to upsize to an 18" wheel and tire combo. With my 410 gears finally being installed this Friday morning ( at Rear End Specialties in San Jose for $275 ), just before I travel to Sacramento Raceway, and my suspension upgrades Im sure my 60 foot times and day to day traction would appreciate more and better rubber out back.
Is the 18x9.5" wheel a bad choice for drag racing if coupled with a NT-555R 305/45-18 tire? The only other choice would be a 285/35-18...
Can a 305/45-18 even fit within the wheel well properly or just barely stick out with the Beyonds? The recommended minimum rim depth for the Beyonds is 9.5" so I think I will be fine in that department.
If this isnt even possible or will hurt my track performance what are some other choices for wide wheel/tire combos for street/strip duty?

A short tire will accellerate quicker than a tall one. Here's an example of accelleration. A figure skater starts a spin with arms out and spins slowly. When the skater brings the arms in close to the body the spin accelerates. To stop the spin the skater streches out their arms and decellerates.
You should have a tire with a decent amount of sidewall also to absorb some of the shock at launch.

Why are you only looking at tires that are the completely wrong size? I'm not being a smart-hiney, I just wanna know if you're doing this on purpose, or if you aren't aware that we use a taller tire than the SN95's?

The stock tires are a 235/55-17
The Nittos that I would like to use are a 245/45-17, I dont see any problem with using such a tire. The overall height is just about the same.
For you to say that Im looking into the "completely wrong size" tire would be more correct if I wanted to mount anything other than a 17" tire on a 17" wheel. So yeah, your comment comes off as a smart a.ssed one.

Hopefully that will help.
Stock 235s are 27.2" 245s are 25.7" So with the stock springs that would look horrible, can you say 4X4 look?

Im driving myself crazy over all this wheel/tire crap.
I wish I could see how an 18x9.5 Konig Beyond would fit with a Nitto 555R 305/45-18. Yeah, its WIDE and its a tall tire but I think it would help with the amount of power I would be placing to the ground on launch.
How tall are the tires for everybody else that are using power adders for the strip?
