Good long tube write up?
Good long tube write up?
I wish TacoBill had one! lol I pulled the trigger and ordered up some long tubes... just looking for some good write ups with both pictures and words. Obviously it doesn't have to be limited to this site, so anything would be greatly appreciate.
After taking out the battery to do my offroad H pipe it looks like the passanger side exhaust manifold will be cake to get off. However, the driver's side seems to be more of a PITA due to the steering shaft.
Anyway, share whatever you have!
Thanks,
Brandon

When I did my JBA LT install, I used Lowe!'s thread. I believe it was called American Racing Headers Install Journal or something of that nature. It was very, very helpful and I basically used it instead of the JBA instructions. I will search for it right now.
Another thing I did was as I was reading thru it on my computer, I copy and pasted the directions/steps and the pictures into Word so I could print it out to bring it in the garage with me. Good luck with the install.
it's pretty straight fwd. take battery, and tray out to give more room. Also I took my starter off for more clearence.
Steering shaft is easy, lube it up remove the bolt lowest to the grond, and pry apart.
Tools, 5mm, 13mm, 15mm, and then various extentions. Rachet wrenches help out a ton!! I loo.sened the 13mm nut on the factory stud then used a 5mm to remove the stud. Seemed to be the best route so far for me. I've done about 6 or 7 header swap/installs on s197's
2x4 under oil pan and raise the motor after removing the motor mount.
get the car off the ground dont use ramps, sturdy jackstands front and rear, good lights, brews (if ya drink em) and some music. couple hours or so later should be done.

Yeah, that's a pretty good simplification. Think it's something that can easily be done with just a really nice jack and high jack stands?
I plan on using my Summit offroad H pipe still. Since the collector of the header I got doesn't use a flange (just a 2.5 inch collector), I'll measure appopriately and cut the offroad H to mate up with the lt's. Then, I'll use the same type of clamps found on the OEM H pipe to make it all come together.
