Going fully synthetic?
Thinking of going fully synthetic. Engine, transmission, rear end. What could I expect for gains by doing this?
Also what weight oil, for the rear. Yes I should probably do a bit more research first, but figured I'd pose the question here. Thanks.

I just recently changed over to full synthetic mobil 1 motor oil Sunday. It was the 3rd oil change, had used Motorcraft 5w-20 on the first 2. Car seems to run smoother to me, but it could just be my head making me think it is :P.

I looked into doing the same. The rear is already synthetic...and with the friction modifier added it probably won't help to change. I called Mobil1 about their synthetic transmission fluid...a no go for the Ford Mustang spec. I would expect 2-5 HP changing the motor oil to synthetic since the Motrocraft blend is only 5-10% synthetic. Good luck with the Royal Purple or Amsoil folks.

The best products I have found are "NEO" oils.
They make a 0w-5w engine oil.
They also make a 7w gear oil for trans & rears. It may be called "18" now.
I have used their products in cars with as much as 650hp with no problems.
You will feel a difference.
