GI: Bigbrake groupbuy?

Hi my name is Jim, and I am just looking to see if there would be any interest in a group buy on the Big Brake kit from Power Stop? I have access to a number of the kits and would like to move them. First off Mods if there is any rules preventing me from posting this or needed to run a group buy let me know and i will obide by them, my company (Brakemotive) has no problem swith the GB fee or whatever this forum requires.

Specs on the kit:

Power Stop CRAGAR Big Brake Kit

13" oversized slotted and crossdrilled rotors for better heat transfrer to prevent warping and brake fade. Directionaly vented rotor vanes to help improve cooling efficiency. The Unique slot design helps to expel friction pad gas and dust. Rotors are zinc plated to resist corrosion and keep them looking new. Calipers are powdercoated a high gloss blue. This kit is a direct bolt on, ballanced front and rear brake upgrade for the 05 and up Mustang GT.

Front brakes include 3 piston billited aluminum calipers with 38mm stainless steel pistons, along with all the mounting hardware required for the install. Rear brakes include large single piston billited aluminum calipers with 54mm stainless steel pistons with the integral parking brake. The kits include all required hardware and mount up the the stock spindles.

A minimum of a 17" wheel is required to clear the calipers on this kit.

If interested please let me know either here or via PM. This kit usualy retails for $1500, but if we can get a few people we can get that down a bit! 5 people $1300! 10 people $1100! and 15 people i can get the price to $995 on this kit, I have 15 on shelf. please let me know if anyone would like this to happen and if a mod can tell me what i need to to to get it going i would apreciate it.

-Jim

Jim,

Would you check your application on that kit? From the description, it sounds like an SN95 kit, and not a S197 kit. We already have 13" brakes up front stock, with twin-piston aluminum calipers, and the OE wheel size is 17" and optional 18"... Most of the BBK setups for our cars offer 14" rotors, 4-8 piston calipers, and require minimum 18" wheels for clearance...

After talking to powerstop, they tell me the GT brakes are actualy 12.5 in the fron tand 12 in the rear so it is a slight upgrade. this kit is designed for the street\track car. Not as aggressive as a massive brake kit, it is designed for the weekend warrior who wants an upgrade with out killing the bank account. The kit comes with .5" front and 1" larger rear rotors, they are also thicker and the calipers provice much better braking force aswell. the 17" rim note is there just so people who may be running smaller wheels for track use know the requirment. This is a nice ballanced upgrade for front and rear with out breaking the bank, i will post pics this afternoon of a set for you all to see. Like i said i can get this kit down to 995-1100 ish range if i can get 10-15 people. i need a minimym of 5 to run it at 1300! I will get pics this afternoon!

Cool, and good to know! Sorry to cast doubt, but the description was SO SN95-ish, I could see confusion happening...

If the only thing people don't like is the caliper color we can most likely arrange having some stripped down and powdercoated in red, but that would also raise the price a little for the kits that would need to change.

I'm out! He won't answer my emails, messages, or posts, so I'm going to just hand over the $$$ and hope? I don't think so.

He said something last week about meeting the first mark ($1300) and would send out the invoices for payment, but I've heard nothing back from him for over a week now.

Not a knock to this guy directly, but it's probably best to stick with someone we know...

Thanks for the offer, but I'm wanting to keep my stock 17" rim options open (snow tires), so I didn't go big.

So I just pulled the trigger on: DBA 4000XS Rotors, Hawk Ceramic's, Steel Brake line kit and (shhh) Line Lock set.

Me happy now

Very nice! I already have a set of the RotorPros on mine so I'll be adding a set of HPS and SS Lines as well. Hadn't considered a line lock set..... until now! Gee, thanks LOL
