Ghost Cam Tunes

Any info on Ghost Cam Tunes? I haven't found any info on here about them. If there is a prior thread I do apologize.

If you are talking about the 3V in your profile picture I don't know of any ghost cam tunes.

I know all about the 5.0 ghost cams, whole reason 3V don't have them is do to Ford unofficially asking tuner company's not to make those tunes any more do to the plans they had in the future for them Boss's and the Boss key technology. There is only one post about them on you tube from a kid in Puerto Rico. So I was just asking if any body had info on like what they do, pro and con. Thanks again.

3v don't have them because they don't have Variable Cam Timing.

Actually, the 3v DOES have variable cam timing. Even though its a SOHC and the 5.0 is DOHC, the 3v has it.

Ghost cam tunes were for 5.0 only. The only benefit was sound, which is subjective. Seemed like I've heard a lot more people that had issues with it, than people that were happy with it.

My limited understanding of the ghost tunes in the 5.0's is that the tune is possible because it is a dohc motor and the lobe cam separation can be changed. This is not possible with the sohc 3v.

The 3v has VCT, it just has one cam per head so it's not possible to add overlap for the cam lope.

There is no such thing as a ghost cam tune for a 3v, if you saw it anywhere it was a joke. I'm guilty of making such videos after I got my hot rod cams installed lol

Check out the video in you tube, just look up 06 GT ghost cam. Look for the sct tuner and you'll know your there.

I assume you mean this video?

He probably has aftermarket Camshafts and is pulling people's legs.

No way is valve overlap possible on a SOHC engine. You have to degree the intake and exhaust cams to overlap the valves to get "Cam Lope", which you can't since there isn't separate intake and exhaust cams like on a DOHC motor.

Just ask yourself, if it were possible, don't you think aftermarket tuners would offer a cam lope tune for the 3V 4.6? They would have nothing to lose, and only money to gain.

That's what I've been asking myself. But did you watch the whole video? He returns it to normal. But I guess you're right. No over lapping means no rackity loping.

No I didn't watch it all, I didn't know he returned it back to a normal idle. Ghost cam tunes idle the same as the stock idle until you "blip" the throttle, then the valves starts to overlap and you get the Cam Lope.

I'm almost 100% sure he pulled a vacuum line at this point. Take a look at this video, the owner has a vacuum leak which is causing the lopey idle.
(I know it's a 5.4 3V, but the SOHC rules still apply)

I just watched a few vacuum leak videos of 3V mustangs and they all have some type of choppy idle. You could pull a vacuum line to recreate a cammed sound, but I don't recommend it.

There is a ghost cam option for the V6... a friend here has ordered it from MPT-Performance".
It does sound great, however I can just imagine that it can't be good on the long-run...?

What year V6? This "ghost cam" tuning is only available on engines with Dual Over Head Cams(DOHC) and Variable Valve Timing.

Definitely not the 4.0, but I've never heard it on the 3.7 either. It'll destroy his cats, if he still has them. Other than that, I don't think it really hurts anything else.
