Gears and getting 50 hp

Hey guys, so here's what I'm thinking my goal is. I want to get about 50 hp out of my car so I can put gt 350 stripes on my rocker and have it justified in my mind. Can I get this with longtube headers and a good intake with tune? What are do you guys have? Recommendations?

And for gears I want to go 373s. My car is a dd and it's about 25 minutes to school and back. I think 410s might be too steep for me. And I want to keep it somewhat conservative. What do you guys think?

I have a tune, CAI, Bassani Catted X-pipe, Bassani Mufflers, and sock headders and I dynoed at 298 hp to the rear wheels. If you figure on about 15% loss through the drive train that's about 350 HP at the flywheel.

I also have 4.10's. I love them they wrap up pretty quick. It really is like a poor man's supercharger. As for the other effects, I rarely use 1st gear anymore, when I rock it hard its difficult to get grip on street tires, and I usually running just at 2500 RPM at 70MPH on the highway, 2750 RPM at 80mph. I'm a telecommuter so the drive doesn't bother me much. I think that if I had to go back to driving to work everyday I might cut them back to a 3.73.

3.55s or 3.73s , catback & tune. good set of headers would bump it nice also.

You first need to know that the 350 in the GT350 doesn't refer to the amount of horsepower your engine has.

true story ?:

350 feet from the office to the shop. Most believe he just came up with it.

GT500:

If you turn to page 613 of the 1997 Shelby American World Registry, it has a special notation on the origin of the GT500 name. It reads as such:
Where did the GT500 name come from?
Carroll Shelby recalls that it didn't come from any dimension or quantity associated with the car. When it came time to chose a name for the new, 428 cubic-inch big block powered model, Shelby wanted something which was, "just bigger than anything else out there". Ford's top performer was the 427, but they also had the milder 428. Mercury had a 410, Chevy had a 427. Chrysler had a 413, a 426 and a 440. Buick had a 430. Pontiac had a 400, 421 and a 428. Olds had a 400 and a 455. Even Cadillac had a 429. These number all referred to the cubic inch displacement of their largest engines.
Shelby remembers thinking that the number '500' was a nice, round number. And, it was bigger than anyone else's number-even though his new car would not have 500 of anything.
'I just 'sorta' liked the sound of it. And the way it would look on those rocker panel stripes'.
And so the Shelby GT500 was born. While they were being produced, nobody else ever named a car a higher number.

GT40: simply the cars height.

After i googled, i found this..

"How did the car come to be named a GT 350? It's been said that the 350 came from an discussion at Shelby American while trying to come up with a name for the Cobra-Mustang. Carroll Shelby is said to have asked how many feet it was from the office to the workshop buildings. Phil Remington told him it was 350 feet. So it was called a GT 350. The 350 was also 100 something larger than any GT Ferrari offered."

Intake exhaust cams tune. That's what I have. Guy at AM said I had like 315 whp and 350 hp at the crank. 373s are next on my list too

A dyno is a tuning tool, the hp #'s will always vary. I have seen losses higher than 15% which I think is more of a "internet" rule imo. The true test of any mod is at the track and hp really is good for talk at the local burger joint. I have seen many people miss judge a car and get handed his ****.

What other mods, if any, do you have? LTs and gears are great mods but pricey with the installs. Make sure your area is LT friendly. I have them in CA but pay the price to keep it smogged and run the risk of getting popped by the law. The gears dont actually give any HP they just move the curve down. Consider UDPs if you dont already have them. Simply switching to hi flow cats and the CAI with a tune should be enough to get you what you want. Plus with the LTs you really need dyno time to get the most out of them. Which is more $$$.

I haven't started anything yet. I just wanted opinions. Bc I don't want to go overboard either bc it's a daily driver and I have a decent commute. And my area is definitely lt friendly. And I understand gears I was just considering them for when I see my friend with his Camaro haha. Tell me more about hi flow cats. I know they just flow better, but are they louder? Any good brands? Will they work with my stingers? I know what they do but besides that I haven't found much information. And Cai and udps were on my list eventually. I've thought about cams but I'm not crazy about them. Cool for other people tho. And the more I think about lt the more money I would have to spend for installation and the rest of the setup.
