gears
are there any set of gears that would enable you stay in first gear longer. it seems that i have to shift out of first so quickly and if im sitting at a light then it turns green, i cant get ahead of anyone, even minivans are beating me off the line. Also, is it dangersous to constantly bring the revs up to 4 before shifting?

Installing a lower rear gear (i.e. 3.90, or 4.10) for better acceleration will lower your top speed in each gear, thereby shortening your "stay" in each gear. You'll get a great launches but your upshifts will come sooner. You can't exactly have it both ways. You can mitigate the time wasted during a shift by installing a short throw shifter.

Or go with the 4.10s, and start in 2nd gear. You'll be able to beat most minivans that way.

Im confused...Im sure its an exaggeration but how would a longer first gear help you beat a minivan off the line? Maybe your shifts are too slow?
Typically to help get a car off the line you want a lower gear (higher numerically ie: 390s, 410s) So you can get the revs up faster and get to the powerband quicker.

Because he is suggesting using second like first by using higher numerical ratio diff. Not sure that is a good solution. 1st is shorter than ever and 2nd starts off like a standard Mustang. What does that accomplish.
For flat land driving, 2nd gear starts are not that hard on the clutch. It just won't accellerate as lively.
This is not a close ratio trans. 1st gear is nearly a granny gear or a real stump puller, so its over pretty quick. Only way to get more out of 1st is with a lower numerical gear in the diff (automatic diff), or get a close ratio trans (don't belive this trans is available from TREMEC with close ratio gearing). The lower gear ratio diff solution however will have a negative overall effect on the car getting to speed, unless you are going out for land speed attempt.
