Are gauges necessary?

I was just wondering, if one gets a typical supercharger setup(say Whipple HO), with a custom Dyno Tune with a reputable dealer, AND have it a conservative tune(430-450), do you really need gauges like an A/F?

I would get it down the road, but I'm just trying to lighten the burden of the initial cost.

No one needs gauges for f/i cars but I am really glad I put some in. I think the air/fuel is the most useful gauge. Its extermely nice to know if you are running too rich or lean and the air/fuel allows you to monitor that all the time. Just put gauges on down the road. You will be fine.

But if you have a tuner give you a custom dyno tune, will that ensure they you will be running a perfect ratio?

Are you going to drive around in your car with no insurance? No, so get the gauges; it's just a little insurance to help monitor things in case of a problem.

True. I would hope there wouldn't be any major issues unless I was putting down some serious numbers. But I guess there's always a possibility of sometihng going wrong.

Yeah if you have a good tuner As previously stated its like insurance. When I first got my dyno tune it seemed perfect. About a week later I noticed my wideband indicated my car was running a little richer than I liked so I had my tuner lean it out a little bit. It is now perfect. Its just nice always being about to monitor your air/fuel, espically at WOT...
