Fuel filter change

Well it's time for a new filter and was wondering if anyone else has had to change theirs out yet? Also I'm thinking about running the Napa Gold filter opposed to the stock Motorcraft one. The Napa one is about half the price and supposed to actually be a better filter from what I hear.

I changed mine at 30K as per the manual. A little messy but otherwise not too difficult. If anyone know the trick to getting the air out of the non-return fuel system that would be a nice tip. Otherwise it'll run rough for about a little bit when you get about 1/4 to a 1/2 mile down the road, but it clears up quickly enough.

As far as the brand... I don't think it makes a difference. If the Napa one is cheaper then go with that.

I used Motorcraft

its pretty simple - take off the plastic cover, then use a fuel line release tool and slide the filter out of there

just be prepared for the little runoff of gas (use a rag) and you'll be fine

And by "fuel line release tool" you mean your thumb. No need for a special tool even though the service manual says you need one. It just has green tabs that you press in like a button and pull at the same time. Very easy.

I just changed my fuel filter in my 07 GT and I did not have to use the quick release tools, just my thumb. Much easier than those quick release ones.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, looks to be a pretty simple process and hopefully will get taken care of this weekend.

just don't spill gas on the pavement, it will dissolve the oils in the pavement and ruin it

does it matter how much gas you have in the tank when u do this? Im sure there will be some spillage when changing out the filters, but does that amount change depending on how much u have?

no just release the pressure in the fuel line by pulling the fuel pump relay and trying to start it.
