Thoughts on this combo, with or without hi-flow cats? I have been searching threads all morning...and wanted to get a everyone's opinion on if this set up will fulfill these requirements:

1. be REALLY LOUD
2. Not trumpet
3. Deep rumble at idle
4. Scream/Race/NASCAR sound at WOT

thoughts?

The stingers are similar to MagnaPacks in design. It will fulfill 1,3,4 but you will still have trumpeting. The guy I bought my Magnaflows from had Packs with an OR X and it sound bad he said. His name was Ryan, maybe he can chime in.

1. be REALLY LOUD = any O/R pipe even with stock muffs is loud, Loudmouths really LOUD
2. Not trumpet Hmmmmmmmmmmmm (is this possible?)
3. Deep rumble at idle = Mac Prochamber with ??
4. Scream/Race/NASCAR sound at WOT = X-pipe has this type of sound

ok, if the magnapacks are a straight through design like the FRPP/Borla-S muffers.....then they should sounds about the same. And that guy Ryan said it sounded bad with an OR Xpipe eh? darn.....

I guess I need to go with a chambered (Bassani..) type muffler then.

Anyone else?

Yea he said the packs sounded bad with an OR X. Maybe he will chime in. I've got standard Magnalows with an OR X and it sounds good. Some might say it's not loud enough, but frankly the only way to get loud in our 4.6s is open headers. Heck, the 454MPI in my boat is louder than my stang with the mufflers on. If I turn the mufflers off it sounds amazing.

FYI: chambered Bassani's (like the kit I sold) with an offroad H will trumpet from 2500 to 2700 rpm.

Mine also trumpeted with an H; but when I put in the X, they didn't. Go figure.

p.s. I have hi flows cats (actually, they're more like "kittens" because they are so small)

That's what got me interested in trying a catted X with my new system.........thanks again for the confirmation Don. Oh, and good luck on your rebuild.

Oh and just for anyone reading: my statement about selling the Bassani system didn't have anything to do with the trumpeting problem or the Bassani system itself. It is an AWESOME kit in my opinion, I just wanted to do something different. No one should be afraid of going with Bassani, it doesn't disappoint.

OK, I thought trumpeting was your exhaust making a high pitched, almost buzzing sound... after reading all this I'm wondering... is it something different? (sorry if derailing)

The noise I refer to as trumpeting is a bap-bap-bap-bap-bap sound in the mid-rpm range under part throttle. I've also called it a crop duster sound.

i have headers and prochamber and it sounds pretty good. back when i had an hpipe with the headers it was really noticable. installed the prochamber again and calmed it down alot. the only rpoblem i have is when im at 2700-3000 rpm area and step on it, you could bearly hear some trumpet but not alot. right now i think one of my borla's might be messed up thou. when i turn the car on i could hear a vabration coming from the back of the car for a spit second . also when i revv it up to around 3 and let go of the gas at idle, you could hear this rattleling sound coming from the back. it sort of goes away after driving around but still annoying non the less.
