I've been discussing cams with Justin Burcham recently. He's saying to stay away from the FRPP cams. Comp has cams out that use the phase limiter plates so you can still have the benefit of variable valve timing. (no loss of bottom end power). He's working with a major cam manufacturer right now...it may be Comp, I didn't ask, to have some new cams made for F/I and N/A applications that will maximize cam potential. I'm going to wait and see what they come up with, but I'm ready to jump on cams asap. Justin also said that even though some cams do not require spring upgrades to do them anyway which makes a lot of sense to me.

Ha ha....I got beat up pretty good for saying the same thing about 8 weeks ago about the Ford cams. But I still say....you can have sound.....or power....but not both....it's your choice.

The ones that Comp offers now are pretty good cams. They just don't have that perfect loping sound. The newest ones which I think are the Thumper cams were designed to sound ''old school'' and offer better performance than the FRPP cams do to the use of phaser limiter plates unlike the FRPP jobs. If the Thumper cams are the ones from Comp (I think they are) they are just now being released this month.

I'm going to wait to see what Justin's colaboration with what I think is Comp has to offer. I'd like to here what the current stage 3 blower Comp cams sound like. Their website only has a video of the stage 2 versions which don't sound bad.

Them there thumper cams do sound good. I heard from Justin that Comp said the Thumper cams could be done for F/I applications. I just don't know if it's on the table yet. I'm just going to be patient and I'll definitely be doing springs and phase limiters.
