Free mods?

Forgive my GMness just wondering are there any "free mods" that can be done on the S197's? In particular an Auto CS/GT?

afaik, there are no free performance mods on the 06-07 model. the only one i can think of off the top of my head is removing the carbon trap that was on early 05 models.

there is no intake silencer that i know of like in the earlier models... i dont think you can mess with the timing without a tuner... things are not as simple as they used to be. hopefully i am wrong, because i would love to do some free mods on my car as well.

You can remove the gas trap thing thats in the stock intake tube. But you might as well remove the stock intake tube and replace it with a C&L or JLT II.

A good wax job is good for at least 15rwhp, and helps mileage too. Helps the car slide through the air like ____________ (insert crude comment here)

Remove the bottom of your rear cupholder, allowing your soda to sit lower, thus reducing drag, and decreasing your time in the 1/4 mile.

Seriously though, you could remove the spare tire and jack from the trunk to free up some weight. Won't help much, but I sure can't think of anything else that is free that will do anything for performance.

You could ask your significant other to drop a few pounds.
This has the added benefit of your own weight drop due to loss of blood.

you can cut your rear springs and level your stance out. You could do the red 454 muffler mod. You could make your own strut tower braces upper and lower.

There was something I read on here with the 2005 and 2006 automatic GT models. It was something that reduced a littel throttle lag. I'll try to remember best I can.

1) you turn the the key to the on position, don't start the car, and wait until all some of the panel light and beeps go off and stop.

2) very clow and steady push the gas pedal down until if reaches the floor.

3) take foot off gas, then turn ignition switch to off

4) wait 5 secs and then start your car

I'm pretty sure that was the sequence, if you have your radio off then you will hear a computer-like sound briefly. Maybe someone else remembers this too. I have a manual, and I did it a few times to try. It might of helped a little, but auto owners had better success with it.

Hope this helps.
