Lol please I say that's my goal but there are so many nice toys to buy for this car lol im going to have to calm down at some point plus the girl is looking to get engaged at some point so I have to save money for other things.. that's why im thinking of keeping my car for a long time and make it just a track car/ weekender because eventually these parts will be cheaper plus me and my brother in law do all the work because he's a mechanic and likes to mod his 04 cobra

Niiiice! My Stang successfully helped me out of a 4.5 year relationship I was being backed into a marriage. Having someone to help you with mods and an engine build is outstanding but carefully monitor what you're putting into that motor if you plan to keep it around for a while.Have you thought about just purchasing a 96-98 Cobra engine to have a basis to start at?

If you do the work yourself you'll save a lot of cash. You may need to deck the block, (I would if it was my motor) so unless your brother has access to a machine shop you'll need to send it to one.

I'm guessing that doing the work yourself, at the end of the day you'll spend around 2-3k on parts plus machining.

Although having been where you are I would stay at around 400rwhp and keep the stock motor and be done with it.

I had a lot more fun with my car when I did that. When I started to try to reach the magic "500" things started breaking and it was no longer fun to drive... went through four clutches, had a valve problem and other things.

I did a complete GT500 drivetrain swap and I'm very happy with the setup I have now, but I would NOT have done it again due to expense and general PITA.

Just my .02

P.S.
I would upgrade your oil pump too if you're going to go ahead with the build... might as well do it while it's down.

Thats really what I have been looking at... I like the shaker supercharger but those blowers are expensive...

I was also thinking of just somehow getting a wrecked 5.0 and swap out the engines and be happy with that.

It all depends i have a couple of years left to pay off my car and I am at 42k. I don't want to drop too much money into it.. If i can run close to 11's at the track I would be happy with it.

The shaker isn't going to net you any more power... it looks cool though.

An engine swap can be a VERY expensive ordeal... if you're going to do that I'd go with a GT500 driveline. The 5.0 is nice, but it's not going to make near the power of the 5.4 and you'll probably incur almost the same amount of expense.
