Forged internals will depend on how high end you are willing to go AND what your applications you will be running the motor through. I know the stock internals and bottom end (except injectors and fuel pump) on the S197 GT's are good to 470 or so rwhp.

I have priced stroker kits for my 4.6L for $2700 that includes all forged bottom end components. I have also priced just forged pistons for $1300+ alone! You should map out a plan and bounce ideas off of other members asking their successes, likes, and dislikes.

TBone is also a wealth of info. He doesn't know EVERYTHING but he is a bit of an encyclopedia on engine builds for these cars. I seek his advice on just about anything.. Except in the forced induction debate. His views are stone age in that arena.

I also know what a blower is for, especially when she's THAT talented and doesn't require her usual fee for services performed.

Keep your ancient supercharged technology. It only makes sense you would be obsessed with those because of them being used so heavily during prohibition.. In 1920 to 1933!!!! Maybe there's a reason turbos are run in the concept class on the GT Circuit?

Dude. Turbos didn't come out last year. Supercharger concept was from 1885 and turbo was 1905. You didnt discover anything new. Just harder to tune all the factors that go into running a turbo set up. Hurry up and turbo your car so we can start betting on when it blows up.

500 rwhp will definitely need the forged bottom but it is spendy to get there!, Why swap the motor if it's not absolutely necessary? Are you going supercharged or turbo?

If I stroke the motor using brenspeeds stage 2 Saleen kit I will be at 400 hp at the flywheel plus with all my bolt ons I figure an extra 50-75 hp at the flywheel... and I may be fine with just that plus ill slap that 5.0 badge on the car ... I do 12.95 at the track and if im at mid or high 11's after the stroker kit and left it open still for a supercharger awhile down the road then I would like that option

Sounds awesome and hopefully you can get to your goal without losing sight of the prize. You are going to modify the suspension at the same time to handle that awesome amount of rwhp, right?

you will be okay until the SC, you should be able to go to about 510-520 to the crank.

I've read that stock internals on the S197's can handle 425rwhp without any issues but will require a boost-a-pump, duel fuel pump, and 60lb injectors? Is that incorrect info iyo?

Don't forget the panhard or watts link with a possible set of C&C plates, bushings, and alignment. When the handling comes together it seriously feels like a new car and then you wan to tear through the turns more and more! Is 500hp your end goal cuz once you get addicted to forced induction, you may want to keep going for more and more and more!!!
