Ford Racing handling Pack Comments

Hi everyone, I joined a lapping club this year and I am now looking at doing some mods to my car to improve its handling. I'm on a very limited budget so I'm only looking at low-cost upgrades.

I am looking into the FR handling pack as it seems priced right, pretty complete and backed by Ford. It's also good enough to be put on GT-Hs and Shelby GTs.

Can anyone comment on ride, improvements in handling, etc ... I don't mind the harsh ride as long as it doesn't destroy the car (tried that with my former GTI and it totally rattled the car into pieces). I don't think it's going to be a problem since the Stang chassis is a lot stronger but anyways ...

Also, my car is a daily driver, even during winter, and yes, we get a lot of snow. If worse comes to worst, I can always rely on my wife's SUV !

Get these comments coming !

The pack really tightens up the car quite a bit, and it is very confident at high speeds...I have driven down the mountain roads from Flagstaff to Phoenix with the cruise control set at 100mph, pack is very capable.

In addition, you'll want to get some serious tires. The BFG G-Force TAs that came w/ my 18" Fanblades are OK but they are the M+S tires so switching to a summer tire will see a large improvement in handling

I've already melted my Pirellis and bought some Hankook K104 sized 255-50-17 which I intend to use next spring. I got a big discount on them at the shop because this is what they race in the Hankook Quebec Touring Championship

The FRPP Handling pack is used on both the Shelby GT and the GT-H. There are a number of people in these forums who have rented the GT-H. You should be able to find out from them how it handles.

I was hoping I'd get their comments here. I am also looking for road tests of these two in car magazines but haven't found one yet.

I have the FRPP Handling package as well as a Watts Link on my convertible. It handles very well and is quite stable. There is practically no body lean in corners. The ride is certainly more harsh than stock but not unbearable.

I have a slight problem with the back end bottoming out on some bumps. I trimmed the first level off of the rubber cushion but that doesn't seem to be enough. Not sure if I need to trim more or replace the rubber cushion with a different one. Anyone have a solution?

For more info on the Watts Link try: www.fays2.net

It is a nice combination and handles very well.
