Ford Racing Gears....

So who has the best current deal on FRPP 4.10's...?

Is there still a concern with some FRPP gears being manufactured by Motive, or are we past that?

What is the concensus on the preferred Gear Oil?

Thanks,
Mike

Hey Mike!
I had the installing shop order my gears and axle girdle. If I remember correctly, it was only a few bucks over Summit, so no big deal.

Check out your shop's policy first. Most of them warranty the gears/work differently in regards to them providing the gears or you bringing them in.

On the Motive issue, I specifically wanted the 'A' gears. Will the 'M' gears surely whine and/or groan? I doubt it. On the contrary, will having 'A' gears assure a whine/groan free experience? I doubt that too.

I just minimized my odds of having issues by getting the 'A' gears and having a reputable shop do the install.

I supplied my own Mobil 1 75W-140 gear oil.

Hey Bill,
Thanks for the info. I remember reading your post re-gear install, but I could not locate it. I do appreciate the input....

If you do not mind, could you PM me the info on your install shop. I believe it was in Torrance? or South Bay somewhere....Also, if you don't mind including the install price, it would be most helpful.....

Thanks again for the feedback and info. It is appreciated.....

I brought in -A 3.73 gears with a full install kit, and the shop I used supplied Redline gear oil. It wound up making a HELL of a racket on turns, which only quieted down once I brought the car back with Motorcraft oil and friction modifier. No issues after that.
