Red face

Well, my dad actually brought up the issue of exhausts today. I was scared that he would tell me to ditch the idea...but he didn't!

I told him I was thinking of straight pipes and headers. He mentioned that he doesn't feel too good about having a shop install headers...and what it would do to my warranty. Soooo...he suggested something..

GALPIN Ford (where we got the Jaguars from, and how I met the first 2005 stangs and ultimately got one because of Galpin) has an aftermarket "mod" shop that is either opening soon or has already opened. The very helpful rep is a good friend of my dad's, and he told us that Ford was sending out their cars to be "Galpinized" at different shops they had connections with, but now they want to do it all themselves.

Im GUESSING this means that exhaust options WILL be available at this store. Long story short, my dad recommended I wait until Monday (When our rep gets back from vacation) to talk to him and take my car into the shop. I didn't want to argue, and was actually glad my dad was following through with all of this.

Lets just SAY, they carry Ford Racing products. Does FRPP have headers that could match JBA's cat4wards? Could I indeed get a setup I want? I know they have the Borla rebadged exhausts, but I don't know what to think of them anymore...

What do you guys think? Take it to the Ford Store or get it done at a local shop? Warranty issues? Any comments welcome.

-Chris

Na I'm in Glendale actually. I got my car from Northern California, but Galpin changed my world when I saw the 05s. For those who don't know, there's a story worth 80 pages about my "journey" to get my car. (Originally an M3...but that's a story I'd probably write when I'm drunk and in the Off Topic section )

You got a stang over an M3? Wow. That's a tough decision.

frpp offers only the shorty headers, they should hook up to anything hooked up to your stock manifolds. Don't knock the frrp exhaust kit...not super loud but they are noticeably louder than stock and sound/look great.

Yup, they do crazy poo. You know what sucks BIGTIME? My dad said exactly this:

Dad - "Chris, if you have time tomorrow or Wednesday morning after or before college starts, we can go and check out the local shops and do something about your exhaust...the Borlas you wanted..."

And I HAD to open my big mouth and say..."Dad, actually I wanted to tell you about straight pipes..."
Dad- "Oh okay, thats cool too!"

Me- aaaaaaaaaand maybe Headers...

Dad- " "

Headers is a stretch. I know my Dad would say no. I don't know if you would do this but what Dad doesn't know can't hurt him...

If you go without his approval pray for no powertrain warranty issues or else your screwed because he'll find out when the warranty is voided.

Good question. Wayne baker at John Bleakley Ford should be able to answer your questions and they have the best prices I've found, by far, on FRPPs. wbaker@johnbleakleyford.com There are 2 models, 1 is un-coted and the other is ceramic coated. Wayne will be very quick to respond and provides excellent customer service. Highly recommend!

My parts guy ordered them for his car, he promptly put them back on the shelf to collect dust.

Why?

He failed to see how there was any benefit considering the ports were smaller than stock.

He's not sure who makes them either, but they are cheap.

If you're going shorty's, I would take a look at JBA's.

JBAs ARE the shorty's I've been looking at. I basically asked if its better to go JBA and Straight pipes at a local shop, or to see what Ford offers.

^Normally I would not have anything to say to you, but this is a different circuimstance. Since I've been having arguments with my dad for about 4 months, naturally I have explored other exhaust setups. Once I get something onto my car, it ISNT coming off....so I want it to be just right.

Some advice would help, though

Go with the JBA stuff. Looks to actually be "engineered" with tuned length pipes for some actual H.P. gain.

So Straight pipes with JBA headers? Or did you mean JBA headers and JBA axlebacks?

Headers, axleback is up to you! You want louder than poop, go with straightpipes/SLP Loudmouths. I personally love my Borla's, but you know that already

Sixty would you say straight pipes alone would be louder than Borlas? And how about with the JBAs too? I want the deepness of Borla, along with loudness and throatiness.

You know when your in a line of cars, and a Firebird like 10 cars away starts moving and you can hear it....

THATS what I want. :worship: Im suspecting Borlas won't be like that exactly...

MAN I WISH there were 2 people who lived near me, one with Borlas and one with Straight pipes...
