Installed my Flowmaster exhaust today. Took about 2 hours total. Backed up the car on ramps just to make sure there was adequate room. The installation is a breeze, with one exception. As probably mentioned in other threads, the clamps that come with the mufflers are JUNK!. Save yourself some time and aggravation and just buy 2 1/2" clamps before you begin the install. No rattles, no leaks, and no worries. ANd I am LOVING the sound. Not too loud at all.

Why clamp? Wouldn't it be much wiser to weld it ?

the fit and design of this exhaust sysem is so good you don`t need to weld them...imo...

Why would you want to weld things up when you have clamps that can work just as well.
If you ever wanted to switch things back, breaking the weld and redoing everything isnt a piece of cake.
Time is money and money is money, duh.

I used the clamps that came with them. Tighten'd the mess out of them. No problems.

Ditto. Did mine today in about an hour.
I had a hoist and all the right air tools tho!
Fitmnet was great, minimal adjustment was needed to make them perfectly equal.
Love the sound. Love the 4" tips
Those top bolts on the hangers were the only thing that were somewhat a pain.

Are there any HP gains from these, I can't seem to find that info.

Really all of the power benfit is under 3300 RPM. From there up, there is only a gain of 1 to 3 horsepower and torque. With the exhaust, I would just pick the one with the sound you like best as the power gains are minimal in the upper RPM band, although they do show a nice power increase at low RPM's.
You can hear how the Flowmasters sound in some of these videos here.....

After reading this thread and others about the poor clamps they include, I just went ahead and ordered some stainless steel U clamps from Summit with my order. They were a little less than $8 each. They are also sending me a free hat! It's all supposed to come tomorrow

Not sure if this was a Mustang dyno or not...pretty sure it wasn't.

I had Flowmasters on my 05 and they were very good sounding but they do sound like a truck. I did like the Flowmasters and I have run them on other cars but the sound is just not right for the Mustang. I found the FRPP/Borla exhust and found that the system ROCKS. Now my 05 Mustang sounds like a Mustang should. There is a thread that has a sound clip of the FRPP/Borla check it out you want want the Flowmasters aftee you hear that.

Wow. Great spreadsheet data. Seems like everyone here keeps saying axel backs are only good for 1-3 HP...which is true at the peak...but man, look at those low end numbers. I'll bet you can really feel the 40-50 flbs of torque at say 3,000 rpm. Cool information. This mod should liven up the low end on my stang nicely.

Woohooo, way to go. Had mine on the day after my car go home. Drove the stocks 500 miles home and love the Flows much better. IMO they offer a great Muscle Car sound.

On the clamps, just curious, why not use the stock clamps? Unless they're attached to the stock mufflers (I don't remember, haven't looked in 6 months), wouldn't they be fine? I guess I'll crawl under my car and check them out before I put my order in on payday.

You sure can use the stock ones.
Reminds me when I put my muffler up and forgot to place the clamp around the muffler before i inserted into the pipe, lol. Use to replacement clamps that are a U shape and it doesnt matter when you put them on.
