First Time Racing

I went drag racing for the first time a few weeks ago at Mission Raceway here in BC. I've been around drag racing for about 6 years, but never as a driver. I only got a few runs in, got there a lil late and some import leaked oil on the track which shut it down for a while.

My first run
The sun was right in my eyes and I forgot to bring my sunglasses. I'm surpirsed I was even able to stage. I launched around 2,000 rpm and spun the tires bad off the line. Let off a bit to regain control. Shifted at 6,000 rpm each shift. Passed the line in 4th.

60 Foot - 2.250

330 - 6.191

1/8 Mile - 9.380

MPH - 76.96

1000 - 12.398

1/4 Mile - 14.398

MPH - 97.51

Second Run
Launched at the same RPM. Again really bad wheel spin at the line. I didn't let off this time and got really bad wheel spin again when shifting into first. Shifted earlier into second than I wanted to becasue of the wheel spin. Every shift was again around 6,000 rpm.

60 Foot - 2.407

330 - 6.396

1/8 mile - 9.506

MPH - 78.40

1000 - 12.179

1/4 Mile - 14.434

MPH - 99.29

Last Run
Sun was down and the track was getting cold. Launched at 2,000 rpm again, but slipped the clutch a lil. Still got alot of wheel spin, but not as bad as my first two runs. Shifted at 6,000 rpm, ended up in forth again just before crossing the line.

60 Foot - 2.235

330 - 6.012

1/8 mile - 9.092

MPH - 79.83

1000 - 11.724

1/4 Mile - 14.014

MPH - 93.30

I'm a pretty big guy, so I know that made some difference in my ET, I'm sure with some practice I can get my 60 foot down and dip into the 13's. I'm hoping to get some slicks and some mods and get her into the 12's.

Gonna be addicted now

I would suggest holding off to 6200 for shift points, and not using 4th gear.(3.55's)
Not sure what gears you have, Im guessing maybe the 3.31's since your using 4th gear. Thats a close one to call with the factory rev limeter. Shes gonna cut you off at 99.13 mph at 6250 rpms in 3rd gear.

Isn't the stock rev limiter 6,200? I'm pretty sure canadian 2007 mustangs come with 3.55's. I think if I can improve my launches then I should be able to keep it in thrid gear when crossing the finish line. I'll try to push it a lil closer to the rev limiter on my shifts to see how that works out. I saved up some cash, now I just have to decide if Im gona buy new wheels and slick for my chevelle or slicks and mod for my mustang :s

pretty sure its 6250. If you have 3.55's then 3rd gear all the way for sure.
I was crossing the line at 105mph at 6100 rpm's.

Once you get that intake and tune in there and a few more runs under your belt mid 13's will be had all day long.

I was trapping at 106 in 3rd gear... Probably could have done a bit better with drag radials.
