My best friend and I went to the local drag strip for the first time ever tonight. I've always been more into road racing, but the drag strip was pretty fun. I saw some really cool cars, including a really fast modded 03' Mach 1 that smoked me, and meet some cool people. All in all it was a great experience. I even let my friend drive my car and the punk edged me out on his last run! Oh well.

As far racing goes I had a little trouble launching well because of wheel spin and hop. I was also suprised that the car had pretty bad wheel hop on the 1-2 shift. The tires spun a little on the 2-3 shift. So better tires and LCA would probably help lower the 60' times and get the 13.6 and 13.7s some others are getting. Also, I wasn't powershifting, just shifting as quick as possible.

My car is a totally stock 05' GT. The 1/8th and 1/4 times and mph below are altitude corrected. I didn't do anything to the 60' or 330 times (is there a correction)?

My best time
60' 2.337
330 6.267
1/8 9.101
mph 80.36
1/4 13.931
mph 102.27

My Friends best time
60' 2.318
330 6.173
1/8 9.039
mph 79.22
1/4 13.900
mph 102.10

Okay, I used to have this problem....no, wait, okay, I still have this problem and, um, and you might not want to.........to get, er, start to do, okay-.Listen up. If you buy something for your car, IT WON'T END THERE. I promise you, I will wager on it. I'm just kidding, well, not really, but...as long as you have money, because the modding willl consume your every dollar. It will demand your daily attention. All this to only leave you wanting more! Yea, I know, this sounds kindof corny and kindof funny.....you just copy this message somewhere in your computer and pull it up in 6 months. you'll see.
Great times there for first runs!

Believe me, I've been there. I owned a Buick Grand National for 8 years before this car. I never took it to the drag strip (although the first couple of years I owned it I did street race). It was totally stock when I bought it, but about 8 years and 8,000 dollars later it wasn't. I started with exhaust and progressed from there to a strip transmission and engine rebuild. I still have some of the credit card bills to show for it!

My stang will remain pretty much stock until the warranty is out (of course I could be fooling myself here). Partially because of the warranty and partially because I just don't have the cash to do anything to it now. I'm still trying to scrape together the money to get the windows tinted. I also have a mountain biking addiction that consumes most of my spare money right now.

Welcome to the Mustang Wheel Hoppers Club. I bought some QA1 adjustable shocks that were supposed to cure the wheel hop problem. Now I find out the upper 3rd link has one of those hydra-bushings in it that causes the wheel hop. Next week I plan on making a Delrin bushing for it and see if that cures the wheel hop.
George, did you run last night? and was it packed?
