My GT came with everything except for the active alarm package.....(I got it because the original person who ordered the it backed out at the last minute) anyway - I really would like to have the alarm with it's functions (like the universal window down) with the FOB.....anyone know if this is an easy add - or should I look into aftermarket alarms?

HotLap, your salesperson should have offered to install this for you when you took delivery. From what I understand, its a quick easy install for your dealer.

Can anyone tell me if the dealer added alarm is the exact same as if you had ordered the factory alarm option? I have a message into my dealer now - but am not sure they know the details.....in other words will the dealer alarm addition require drilling etc. for the permiter switches, will it come with the interior motion sensor alarm, will I be able to open the windows remotly with the FOB and close them with the driver door key switch - just like the stock Ford "active alarm" set up.

Sorry to be so dense - I'm used to the older style of alarms where it was a complete new system and required drilling, a seperate FOB, etc. and it sounds like my dealer may be able to add the factory Ford alarm module??

I was wondering the same thing; please let us know what your dealer says. I know this was discussed in another thread somewhere, but no one came up with an answer.

Gunk - thanks for reminding me - I did speak with my dealer about thier dealer added Ford alarm. It is a Ford alarm - with a simple module that plugs into an existing wiring harness - but it does not have all the features of the Ford factory "active alarm". I looked through the brochure and found the following:

It Does:
Use you existing key FOB
Active with the doors and trunk
Have a "glass smash" or hard jolt trigger
status indicator (red led) mounted on dash
Starter interrupt when system is armed and disconnecting the module will not allow the vehicle to start.
Has a "Valet" mode.

It Does not:
Provide the "Global Window Down" feature where you can lower both windows with the FOB
Provide the "Global up" feature where you can raise/lower both windows via the drivers door key.
Provide the hood perimeter alarm (although if someone was forcing your hood open - the "shock sensor" may trigger.
Hope that helps.

What's that? Is that when you can limit how fast the valet drives the car when you aren't looking? Does the stock alarm have that?

I have worked at Ford Dealerships for over twenty years and have seen much grief with aftermarket alarms! They are Like these FLY BY NIGHT wheel companies that go out of business a year after you Spend big bucks on a set of wheels and you can not get a replacement center cap! I have been personally stranded on more than one occasion in a Dealership car with an aftermarket alarm gone bad! Even the Factory Add ons are a Headache! The Tech's don't know how to fix them when They go Bad! If you need an Alarm ORDER THE CAR WITH IT! You will be Miles Ahead! If you must add on Go with a Factory add on and Make sure the Dealership Does these on a Regular Basis! You do not want to be their Learning Curve!

I wish I would of gone aftermarket, because I want the remote start. If I could do it all over again I'd get one from Best Buy with their extended warranty and be done with it.
