A/F ratio how does it effect H/P and Torque.

When I had my car Dynoed it leaned out to 14.2 - 14.3 at the exhaust. Brent has added some more fuel to the tune. Brent wants the A/F to be around 13.5 at the exhaust. I have not put it back on the Dyno and Brent's next Dyno Day isn't until July. Anyone have any idea how that might effect the numbers. Just Curious.

Lean conditions usually result in increased HP numbers, but that comes at a potential cost.

Hey Ben, how are you doing? Adding fuel to your may lower your numbers slightly, but likely you'll be better off in the long run. My numbers were 13 to 13.5 at the exhaust just FYI.

You've got a great car. I would trust that Brent knows what's best for your car and add the fuel, even if your numbers drop slightly.

Thanks,

Tom

Brent is awesome. With just the mods that I have listed below and his newest tune for the '06 cars, I got 296/316 on his dyno during the dyno day. And the throttle response is killer!

Trouble is with getting a canned tune from Brenspeed and Bamachips, the tunes are never quite right because all cars are different. All my tunes had sucky A/F ratios. Your local dyno place cannot edit the tunes in your tuner, they need special master files that places like Bamachips won't give out because it contains all their secrets.

The only way to maximize the benefits of your canned tunes are to get your cars dynoed and sent your datalogs and dyno graphs to your tuner. Might take several trips.

That's just the nature of the beast, there's no substitute for a custom tune

That is what I am looking at to do. Each car is different. I was surprised that the DTP tune was running so lean.

And as for me, the upgrade the Sct 2 stuff and all, I am so lost on that.

is a dyno necessary? can't you just hook up some O2 sensors and rev the crap out of it in neutral?

I think the load has to be on the engine (ie: spinning drive shafts and stuff).

Per converstation with Doug, once I get my wideband O2 installed I will make several "pulls" in 2nd and 3rd gear and send the data to him so he can fine tune my tune. My problem is that I live at over 5000 feet up, so I am definitely running rich at or near WOT.

But I knew that would be the case going in and discussed it with Doug up front. Now I just need to get off my butt and get the bung installed so I can wire up my LC-1!
