Experience with PRO50 and MGW shifter

Ok, So I drove my buddies 04 Cobra with both shifters. I founf the MGW to be so tight I just didnt like it, when he installed the PRO 50 it was much better as far as me shifting to each gear. So after reading many posts I like the quality of the MGW, but the feel of the PRO50. Should I get pretty close to the same experience with my 07 GT.
Also, I am reading alot about noise from them. Whats the best way to avoid this from each of them when installing?

My basic understanding is that the S197's MGW is not nearly the same piece used in the SN95. check out MGWs website for a few videos on their shifter.

FYI: The MGW WILL be very tight for the first month or so. After I installed my MGW, I almost called up George to order the light springs for it. But, I decided to give it a bit of time to break in.

I'm glad I did! The shifter has loosened up to just about PERFECT tension in all directions.

Don't know about the Pro5.0 shifter, but I just installed the MGW on my 07 a couple of weeks ago. Used TacoBill's install guide and had zero issues. Took about 2 hours including figuring out the best way to jack her up. The shifting now is flawless and oh so smooth. Two nice things about the MGW piece is the ability to adjust the throw and the ability to adjust the shifter height. Its a little pricey, but I don't think you will find one person in this forum that doesn't like it.

Good luck!

Everyone who has replied to your post has stated that they are two different shifters. Only one responder added that they are two different cars along with the fact that they are two different shifters. First one is SN95 and second is S197, these photos are directly from the MGW site.

I think what everyone is saying is that just because you have "tested" these two shifters on an 04 just doesn't mean squat on the s197. The shifter technology is totally different. They are built totally different and they operate totally different.

If you want to have ANY idea what these shifters will feel like on an s197, then you have got to track down an s197 that has these shifters installed and they them.

Or trust those of us you have tried various shifters in our own s917 cars and just buy the MGW and be done with it... You will find a LOT of different people on this forum that have gone from Brand A to Brand b to Brand C to MGW. But you won't find one single person that has gone from MGW to Brand D.

I've driven a s197 with a pro 5.0 and mine with the mgw. I prefer the mgw by far. It definently is a lot better once it's "broken in"
