I have tried to get feedback with sound clips but haven't gotten any yet.
I plan to purchase a exhaust system for my car, preferably mufflers and pipes, no headers. What do you guys recommend that will be EXREMELY deep, LOUD, and LEGAL!?
I know many buy offroad pipes, etc.. if so, when are our cars subject to emmission tests? Is it really bad to go O/R?
Ive heard about many paths...
-Magnaflow MagnaPAKS with Magnaflow X-pipes
(will this work? whats the diff between the PAKS and regulars?)
-Bassani Axle-Back, Bassani X-Pipe
-SLP Loudmouths with a MAC ProChamber
What set-up do you guys have?
Do you like it?
Where did you get it from?
Is it mean enough to make heads turn and to be HEARD!!!???

I have Magnapacks without the x-pipe but I have been thinking about adding one. They are very deep. I have heard them side by side with SLP loudmouths and they are just a tiny bit quieter but deeper. The SLP's are more raspy. They both sound good, its just preference. I have not heard bassani in person. I'm curious to know how loud Magnapacks or SLPs are with an X-pipe. Oh, and these exhaust systems are not legal in most areas but I haven't had any trouble with cops. Just don't floor it when you are right beside one.

I have the Flowmaster Mufflers and they sound terrific and they spin heads everywhere I go, including other 05 owners I bump into to. Def a great muscle car deep rumble! I am very pleased with them. I got them from a local FL exhaust shop recommended by a forum members on here and I pay $245 for the kit! Great Deal! I did plan on going with an off road x-pipe till I later discovered that you needed to cut your stock H-pipe in order to bolt on the X-Pipe to your stock catalytic converters. So I am out with the X-Pipe and soon to have Ford Racing Ceramic Short Headers installed. Overall with the Flowmasters, I am VERY pleased with the look, the sound (it has gotten louder over the months) and the attention I bring in parking lots and at red lights!

I have the SLP loudmouths with the pro chamber, it's not that deep sounding and not that loud with the stock cats on unless you get over 3000rpm then it's loud.
I head one with the Steeda system on it and it was deeper and louder than mine.

In CA, there are NO smog legal X pipes, the only company close to having approval is Magnaflow-
There is also a new 95 db law as well- the Magnapacks and SLP are not sound legal- I am not sure about the rest-

How would they know, though? I would have to get pulled over and get tested, right? THat is, if they can keep up

BTW, there is a new law in CA for emissions testing. A 2005 car will not have to be inspected for 6 years (i.e., until 2011). Specifically, it says:
Beginning January 1, 2005, vehicles 6 or less model-years old will be exempt from the biennial Smog Check inspection requirement. For vehicles with registration renewals due in the 2005 calendar year, this exemption includes model-years 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005.
