If you want no drone at all and still pickup additional HP then try CORSA. The LS1 crowd has been using them for years and it is great that they finally jumped in on the Mustang crowd. There website also has sound clips.

I have looked into Corsa but I have heard lots of bad things. A few reviews on here and other forums say that the hangers did not line up right and that the customer service from Corsa was horrible. The mufflers are also really heavy. Has anyone else heard of this? This sound clips are good though.

I really don't have an opinion to add however... I am wondering if there's any way to get a louder idle, I don't care much about WOT as I'm in the car at WOT, but at idle I'd like to get more sound for when I'm outside my car.
SLPs or just eliminate the muffflers and add a couple of nice tips

For $245 plus $25, Flowmaster seems to be the only choice. And believe me, I like to blow money with the best of them!

Having no mufflers is "illegal"... Besides, I already get unwanted attention when I rev. I guess I was looking for just a way to turn up the volume so my car purrs louder. She already growls loud enough.

I recently installed the Corsa axle-back. It is a really nice system. I find absolutely no-drone, and the sound when you jump on it is out of this world. The passenger side was delivered with a small defect, and they shipped out a replacement very quickly (no-charge). the exhaust fit right into the Ford hangers - no problem there. I still am messing around to line things up (I need to get a helper to hold the system in position while I tighten the bolts). With regard to their customer service - I find it excellent.

I have been researching SLP powerflows now and at this point it don't know what to think. How is the volume level? Do they drone at all? I know they have smaller tips but as long as they look good I don't care.

21st Century Exhaust (Florida): 561.588.1580

$245 plus shipping (I think it was $25). MM&FF said it's the only setup that gives the "original 5.0 sound"! And they had it 3rd for overall peak power and 2nd for power throughout the rpm band. But we're only talking .2-1hp less than the 1st place and, what, 5hp more that the worst?...

Two things that I find hard to beat: 1. Price 2. Sound

Ryan,

magnaflows are supposed to be as close to stock noise wise. any x-pipe, h-pipe w/ cats or worse w/o cats are supposed to be louder than changing out your mufflers. i may be wrong here, but most guys say it really gets loud when they add a mid-pipe.

the early '05s had different hanger locations. many early after market exhausts do not fit on later made '05 mustangs. don't know when the change was made by ford. but if you have an early made '05 with a newer exhaust or vice-versa, they won't align together.

MM&FF tested noise level @ 2,000RPM. they call it cruise speed. how convenient. that RPM coincides with the infamous Drone RPM.

i have noticed a drone with my stock mufflers. but since adding a JLT CAI and a SCT X2 custom tune, it is gone. before it was slight and now it isn't there. go figure.

slp is supposed to be the loudest. it's the equivalent to no muffler for the most part. i've heard slp sound clips and boy are they loud.

for others, http://www.mustangexhaust.com/ is a popular exhaust sound clip site. register http://64.177.72.121/forums/index.php then click on "200+ exhaust sound clips."

to me, Borlas are the bomb. they are music to my ears. they make Ford's axle & cat backs. i will probably be ordering Ford's from Kevin:

well Ryan, hope things work out for you.

I think your neighbor is your problem, not your Magnapacks.

My advice: find another neighbor, keep the exhaust.

But seriously, really pisses me off when the public has problems with cars that are loud, but, for some reason, trucks are "allowed" to be loud. :notnice: (maybe this is just a south thing?)

On my brother's '03 Mustang GT (now sold), the Borlas sounded ALOT better than the other two exhausts he had on there, not near as much drone (40 series flowmasters and another (1-chamber mufflers, not sure what brand) (he had a full exhaust btw, LT headers, offroad xpipe, etc.). I imagine the Borla for the 3v is similar.

Do you know if Ford changed the physical location of the hangers, or if they changed part numbers ? I have an early car. I will try and get the Part#'s from my hangers - perhaps we can match the part# up with someone who has a later car ??

On the passenger side, the hanger part #'s are: 4R33-5A246-AE
There is also another #: A64RP

If anyone has a exploded mechanics diagram showing the parts - that would be great !

it was long ago. if i had to venture a guess, the change was made in jan or february. about that time frame i believe.

also, if i don't miss my guess, most of the problem solving threads on this topic were from stagnet.com. i'll try and find threads about it and link you to them. sound good?

for now, i would contact Kevin our official TMS Ford parts supplier and querry him about this. tell him when you took delivery of your mustang. he can shed some light on the topic perhaps.

other than that, if i was in your shoes, i'd contact the manuf. of the exh. you want, say magnaflow, and tell them you have an early made mustang w/ diff. mounting and ask them if they have some of their exhausts made for your car. if they do they will probably give away the exhaust to you i'd hope. they have nearly no hope of selling it otherwise seeing all newer mustangs won't fit it. or at the very least they could make one for you from their prior

i'd think un-sellable old ones were shipped back to the manufacturers from retailers.

but for sure, kevin may be able to help you out.

find someone wit hthe SLP's and you will choose them. They sound gret at idle, though not overpowering liek you had before. They sound great under WOT and load and best of all no drone whatsoever with the windows down or up

os121, sorry i couldn't find a thread relating to the Ford change in exhaust hanger locations. what i read at the beginning part of the year about it must have been intermixed within threads about different exhausts in which ppl said they didn't hang well or fit at all.
