I understand that a good exhaust system can greatly increase HP. Does anyone know if the Magnaflow and Flowmaster systems claim to increase HP? In addition, what is a cat back system? Do they call it cat back becuase of the pipes contours?
Is there an advantage to this system? I know some of these systems are louder than the stock exhaust which is OK, as long as everyone within a quarter mile of my driveway doesn't hear me leaving. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks

The '05 has a very good exhaust system right from the factory. I'm getting a new axleback system just for the sound, not for any horsepower gains.

It seems that the aftermarket exhaust for the 05 does not increase the HP (or if so, it is minimal). So basically you are paying for sound not performance.

I believe "cat back" means it is a new exhaust system the replaces things from the cats to the back (hence cat back). Similarly, axle back is a system from the axle to back.

I am not sure about sound. I personally have not heard any (other than some video clips - none in real life.

Thanks for the info Chris. I think I'll send flowmaster an email to see what they say about increased HP.

That is correct, and cats refer to the catalytic converter if you didn't already know that.

Ignore what Flowmaster say - so far everyone excpet for SCT (XCalibrator tuner) and MMR (Anniliator Cold Air Kit) have lied/mislead about their HP ratings. You get zero to very little with mufflers, cat-backs, x-pipes or CompCats... you will see some, but only if you tune.
