emissions testing
emissions testing
I have a question about emission testing with a cold air intake and tune. I just went to have the car inspected and failed the NC emission test. It had codes, noticed one of them to be 02 sensor related. How are you all passing the emissions test? I removed the intake, installed the factory intake and reflashed back to stock. Is there a certain mileage or procedure to remove all codes before I take it back to retest the car? The reason the tune concerns me is I am planning on a supercharger and cams which after I will not be able to go back to the stock tune for emissions testing.
If the PCM has emission realted codes it won't pass. If your rear O2s are turned off in the tune it won't pass. Swapping back to stock will work but you need to drive so many miles/trips for the PCM to complete the self check. I'm currently running MIL Elliminators on the rear O2s. Works like a charm.
All reset after 17-20 miles of stop and go traffic other than the condensor and the tech said it would have to go through a cool down cycle for that to clear but he could still pass me on the emissions test with that code. Brenspeed is making me an emissions tune to replace my 91 tune since I don't use it so next time I can just change the tune and drive a little instead of having to put my factory intake back on.
