Eliminate Brake Dust
#2
ceramic pads will practically eliminate your brake dust and will also make you brakes much quieter. i've installed them on several vehicles including:
01 F350
98 Camaro
90 F150
of course, my general experience is that any decent aftermarket pad will dust less than OE Ford brakes. i've heard some complain that ceramics don't help shorten your braking distance, but i never noticed this.
my $.02

I just seen an add for ceramic brake pads. Does anyone have experience with these? I'm curious to find out if they are any good or expensive.

My 2 cents--- Re: ceramic pads make sure that the pads are D3A certified.
My favorites are Raybestos Quiet Stop.
with Pro Stop comming in a close second. Both are shimmed, slotted and chamfered. Very little dust . Price adverages $50. to $70.
Unfortunately the last time I checked they wern't quite available for the 05 yet .
So they could be out now.

I'm waiting for EBC Kevler brake pads to come out for the 05. I had 2 sets of them on my 1990 , the first set lasted me about 8 years. They have virturally no brake dust and great stopping abitlity and cost about the same as other performance pads ...

B) Porterfield has released their Kevlar pads for the 05 Mustang. Not yet listed on website but avaiable.
I recently replaced a set or Porterfield R4-S pads on my truck after almost 2 years; more than 90K of 80% mostly SoCal freeway driving ..... should have waited at least another 20-30K. And that's with drilled & slotted rotors.
They wear better and offer better stopping power than any OEM or other pad I've used.
I have chrome rims on my truck and have NEVER had brake dust problems with the kevlar pads. Simple polished the rims every month and spray/wipe down with non-amonia window cleaner once a week
IMO Well worth the extra $$ ...
