I am considering putting a bolt on electric water pump on the 05 stang (I think it is a Meziere). I an wanting to do this before I go back for the DYNO/TUNE on the Jan. 15th. BTW, If any Houston people are intrested, here is the thread.
Does anyone have any expericence with installing one, did you see gains, is it really worth it ? They claim 15HP for its usage.
It can be found on MMR's site.
I am hoping that we can get some guys/gals to chime in on the "reliability" of a daily driver.

I would be VERY interested in those results as well Bryan...300 bucks or so for 15 horse sounds reasonable enough IF it doesn't cause any motor issues and really does bring that much hp....hope somebody can post who's done it on another stang in the past.....

I have been running a Mezeire pump on my '03 Mach 1 for over 20,000 miles now with absolutely no issues. I dont know about 15hp, but mine picked up 8hp at the wheels. Any reason your tuner advised against it?

You can use them on the street. I have one on my 68 and run it every weekend. The CSI I run supposedly has 3,500 hour life. But it is very easy to replace the motor on those. For an every day car I do not know how long they would last, but it seems GaragLogic's pump has lasted awhile.

Like I said, I have had one on my mach for over 20K and I know of many other who have as well. You have to remember, the electric pumps for these cars are nothing like the old schols pumps the "race" car use. I am going to do it soon, so I'll let you know how it turns out.

It may work for 20,000 miles.... but what happens if it goes out at 21,000 miles? I mean they are cool and all, but I just don't know about on a daily driver. If your 05' is a "toy" then GO FOR IT! Just not worth the gamble of your motor for a few horsepower in my openion. Drag cars are frequiently torn apart or inspected more often than a daily driver would be, so an electric pump is more accepted.

I agree with you FROG. These pumps are given an approximate life time usually 3,500-4,500 hours. They could go more and they could go less. But for a daily driven vehicle that is up to each own's discretion! You could always carry a set of allen wrenches and an extra motor in your trunk! Would take only about 10 min. to change the center piece out.....at least for my 68 it would...not sure what is in the way for the 05!!

Most regular water pumps will give you warning before they go out. They will start to make noise. Instances of early failure are low, and increase with the amount of age, especially if there is rust or other crud in the coolant. The motor is YOUR motor, so you are only worried about the pump bearing going out. Usually they make noise before they lock up.
So you don't get stuck on the side of the road.
Electric motors are more likely to give out without warning. Then you sit on the side of the road waiting for AAA.

if the electric pump fails the pcm would get a over heat reading from the water sensor and go into limp mode meaning it would fire every other spark and if the engine then over heat more the pcm will turn of the engine untill it cools
and before you say what if the pcm fails and does not go into limp mode any mod could kill the engine
i think if a company makes a pump that is for streat use and shows some how that it has a long life i will try this.
8 to 10 hp, trq ? but at no added ware on the engine sounds good to me

I would consider the pump if you plan on using your car for mostly around town. It sounds to me with the 4:10's that you don't plan on long trips.
A lot of the street rods run them, but again they only come out Saturday nights, etc.
Worst case get an hour meter.

Electic pumps look like they are closing the gap? It always seemed to me an electric pump had an advantage at low engine speeds vs. a mechanical pump because of the steady state volume and flow (hp considerations aside) but that advantage disappeared at high engine speeds where that little water dyno was able to step up volume and flow as well as pressurize the block better and help eliminate hotspots due to air pockets being squezzed out.
